We’re beginning to lose patience with Emre Can, it has to be said.
When Brendan Rodgers signed the German from Bayer Leverkusen he was described as someone who could play in a variety of different positions and was one of the next best European midfielders.
Wind forward to the present day, though, and he’s not come near to that potential in his close to three years at the club.
Some displays make him look like he’s at last pulling things together but others, like yesterday against Swansea, suggest he’s a long way away and we think until he starts putting in more consistency we need to take him out of the side.
He’s young, of course, and so he should be given time to improve but our squad is so thin it’s almost as if he doesn’t really have to improve to keep his place.
Time to look at potential rivals for his spot, then, and here’s two young midfielders we’d go after to replace him…
