Danny Ward

|

When I was first handed the teamsheet and saw the strength of the Liverpool side I paid no real attention to Mr Ward, and more fool me. Daniel impressed from the opening minutes of the game with an excellent response to a couple of 1v1 situations he found himself in against the impressive Jeffery Schlupp. Perhaps the hardest part of the goalkeeping repertoire, with odds in favour of the attacking player, he made himself a presence as well as producing a smart save to keep us in the match. Ward kept his concentration levels high with fine reaction saves against Schlupp, following a slip from Wisdom and just prior to their winner. Daniel also displayed the ability to control his area and sweep behind the defence, which is vital when the team is playing a high press and seeking to retain possession. Always tough for a keeper to progress from the youth ranks at a top club but he would surely benefit from time with the first team. Certainly one to watch.

Jimmy Areabi (Editor) - @fantasista1077: Huyton raised like Steven Gerrard, football has been my passion since the time I received a Kenny Dalglish badge as a toddler, and I've followed the Reds ever since – something that was easier during the 80s, when I worshipped John Barnes! I've produced work for many football media outlets & am now happy to run a major site on the club I love - providing our fans with a voice, and to bring as much information and news on the club as possible.
Having played football all my life, I aim to continue longer than Stanley Matthews...
