Michael Owen

|

From 1996 to 2004 Michael Owen was one of the best young strikers in the world and had scored over 230 goals for his home town club Liverpool. A move to Real Madrid was where the forward began to suffer some muscle injuries that have since restricted him to very few first team appearances. Having failed to impress in Spain, Newcastle; who seem to be a constant throughout this list; signed Owen for £17 million and it was hoped the hit-man could get his career back on track. But long term injuries including a tear in his hamstring and a broken metatarsal put him back in the physio’s room for months on end. After his contract expired at St James Park, Owen signed for Manchester United in 2009 but due to selection and injury he has featured just 31 times in the league for the Red Devils.
