Howard Kendall

|

After making over 200 appearances for the Merseyside club Kendall returned in the eighties as manager. He would prove highly successful in his initial spell with Everton leading them to the FA Cup, two league titles, the European Cup Winner’s Cup and three Charity Shield successes. However Kendall returned for a further two spells of management at the club he described as his “marriage” and each time they were less successful. After initially leaving in 1987 he returned in 1990 for three years that were mediocre at best. In 1997 he returned again but after rumours of alcoholism and some dangerous flirtation with relegation he resigned after just one season.
