The German international was outstanding during his first spell with Arsenal and made up part of the 2003-04 unbeaten Arsenal defence. He made just shy of 150 appearances for the Gunners between 2003 and 2008. In 2011 he was brought back to the club for six months and although he played well when he did turn out for the club, he only made one appearance. He was brought in as a reserve goalkeeper and unfortunately for Jens that was all he was.
