Dickov was something of fan of returning to former clubs. He did it with both Manchester City and Leicester. Between 1996 and 2002 he made 158 appearances for the club scoring 35 goals. He then moved to Leicester City where he scored 37 goals in 89 appearances. In 2006 after a somewhat nomadic few years he returned to City but his time was fraught with injuries and a lack of form. He made 16 appearances and scored no goals in his two year second spell. In 2008 he re-joined Leicester and made 21 appearances and scored two goals but, understandably due to his age, was totally incapable of performing to the standard the Leicester fans expected of him, even though they were playing in League One.
