Paul Gascoigne – 1991 FA Cup Final

Nothing sums up Gazza’s career more than what happened in the 1991 FA Cup Final. His mercurial talent had led Tottenham to the Cup final but he was to partake in little of it. Having gone in recklessly for a challenge on Nottingham Forest‘s Gary Charles, Gazza paid the ultimate price, as the challenge saw him tear ligaments in his knee, ruling him out for a long period of time and of course unable to take on the famous Wembley walk to collect his medal. Instead he received his Cup winners medal in a hospital bed. This moment of madness defined his career and served as the catalyst for a downward spiral in his career.
