Jay-Jay Okocha

The Nigerian international was a gamble signing by then Bolton boss Sam Allardyce as he tried to inject some flair into his side in an attempt to stave off relegation in 2002. It worked a treat as Okocha took the the Premier League like a duck to water and worked his magic to keep the Trotters up. A free transfer from PSG he proved to be the inspiration they needed and during his four-year stay at the Reebok Stadium he captained the club to a League Cup final and into Europe as the unfashionable long ball specialists took up residency in the top six. One of the better Allardyce bargains if only for his top draw dancing.
