Ipswich – 2000-01

|

After being promoted via the Division One play-offs Ipswich, under the stewardship of George Burley, began their first Premier League campaign since 1994. It was a season of surprise for the Suffolk side as they challenged at the top of the table for extended periods and looked likely to finish in the top three and qualify for the Champions League. Eventually they finished fifth gaining entry to next seasons UEFA Cup for the first time since 1982. Much of their success that season must be credited to Burley who was named Manager of the Year whilst striker Marcus Stewart also played his part scoring 19 times.
