We all knew Man Utd were going to be pretty good this season, and we also all knew that Arsenal were/are pretty bad. But even the most narcissistically inclined Man Utd fans would be lying if they said they had expected to put eight past Arsenal. It was surprising enough that Arsenal managed to score twice at Old Trafford, something they haven’t managed for a long time. But for United to score eight, against a rival, it was embarrassing. Arsenal have been on the end of a hiding before from Man Utd such as their 6-1 defeat in 2001, but this will surpass all other defeats to leave Arsenal fans with a queasy sensation in their stomach at the prospect of the visit of Man Utd to the Emirates.
