|

Often underestimated, Coppell’s record should have seen him achieve so much more. During four spells at Crystal Palace he got them to the FA Cup final, third place in the top-flight and promoted through the play-offs. His time at Reading was similarly impressive, winning the league with ease and then finishing eighth in their first Premier League season. But the enigmatic manager quit following the Royals’ relegation the following campaign and left Bristol City under confusion after two games in charge. Due to the apparent lethargy of the man, he has never been given the top job his ability deserves.
