Recently unemployed having resigned from Mallorca following the sacking of his assistant, the former Barcelona striker has had great success so far. During four years at Brondby he won the Danish cup in his first year in charge as well as a league and cup double. He followed that by joining Getafe in 2007 ad took them to the last eight in the UEFA Cup and the Copa del Rey final. Despite being linked with jobs at Chelsea and Benfica, he chose to join Spartak Moscow, but in an unsuccessful spell he was sacked after seven months before returning to Spain last year to coach Mallorca. Suffering from the financial uncertainty that saw them ejected from the Europa League and the loss of their best players, the 47-year-old guided them to safety against the odds to cement his place as one of Europe’s brightest managers.
