Michael Owen

Owen is an interesting case. When he first signed for United it was a perfectly understandable move; it was a chance to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world and win more trophies. Because of his pay-as-you-play deal it would be wrong to criticise the former Liverpool man of purely being at United for the money because he isn’t playing very much. However in the summer he had the chance to move to a smaller club where he would be guaranteed playing time, something that he doesn’t seem interested in. It appears he would rather feature in Carling Cup games during the final years of his career than have another chance to prove himself in one of the toughest leagues in the world.
