Loan Watch – So what are San Jose, Nemeth et al up to?

|

Mikel San JoseMikel San Jose – San Jose has become a permanent fixture at centre half for Bilbao this season during his loan spell at the club. He started the 4-1 loss to Barcelona at the Nou Camp at the weekend. Goals from Jeffren, Lionel Messi and two from Bojan sealed victory for Barca in what was really half a reserve team for the Catalan club. Despite this though, Bilbao are still sixth in the table and are still in contention for Champions League football next season.

Krisztian Nemeth – The Hungarian striker was introduced in the second half in AEK Athens’s 1-1 draw with Panionios last week and worked his socks off during the match.He has just come back from injury but he hasn’t started as many matches as he would have liked this season. Despite this though, there is interest about keeping Nemeth on for another season. New AEK Athens president Adamidis was rumoured to be in England this week to discuss an extension to the loan deal with Liverpool. Nemeth himself in recent months has stated his desire to stay in Athens and has stated recently he would miss the fantastic support from the AEK fans.

Jay Spearing – The midfielder started for Leicester City against QPR in a 4-0 win at the Walkers Stadium yesterday. The win reinforced the Foxes hopes of a playoff place and Spearing played his part in central midfield. Commanding as ever on the ball, he started the game and his ball to Paul Gallagher nearly provided the first opening of the match when the striker’s cross was only just cleared by the Rangers defence. It was really Martyn Waghorn’s day though, as the striker scored a brace to ensure victory for the homeside. Commenting on the loan move to Leicester recently, Spearing commented on Leicester’s promotion prospects:

“It would be wonderful to have play-off winners on my CV and I think we are capable of it. We have a great young side here with plenty of willingness and desire.”

Stephen Darby – Darby has played in the last six league games for Swindon since his loan move from Liverpool back in March. He again started at right back yesterday as the Robins beat Tranmere Rovers 3-0 with prolific strike pairing Charlie Austin and Billy Paynter both on the scoresheet once again. A good clean sheet with Derby in the backline again shows that Swindon are playing well at both ends of the pitch at the moment and it has seen them overtake Millwall and Leeds for the second automatic promotion spot in League One. Darby may well be helping the Robins clinch promotion to the Championship in his two month loan spell.

Robbie Threlfall – Robbie has already scored two goals on his loan spell since joining Bradford City as Peter Taylor’s first signing back in February. He scored on his debut in a 3-1 win over Rochdale and then three games later against Port Vale. Since then, it has been announced that the 21 year old’s loan has been extended until the end of the season and he has so far played 11 league games for the League Two side. He has been a regular at left back but he couldn’t prevent Bradford losing 2-1 to Macclesfield Town. Threlfall enjoys venturing forward from the left, and also is adept at corner kicks. He provided the first opportunity of the match, when he whipped in a great ball for Steve Williams who forced Macclesfield keeper Jonny Brain into a good save. Emile Sinclair put the Maccs into the lead during the first half but Bradford managed to equalise after the break through Luke Oliver before Ben Wright sealed victory for the away side.

    nemeth because of the stupid comment he made regards to wanting to stay with the no mark greek club,! i found it really amazing, a young player with so much to do and we loan himn out and all he can do is talk , talk and more talk, if i was rafa and i have heard that the plan is to sell for around 3 million. we have other in the academy and in the second string who are far better and have better attitude and would like to stay at the club. sell him,

    as for darby, we have kelluy who is twice the player so sell young darby, as for spearing get rid for the money, good players but again we have better in the academy.

    san jose , we should keep, although again ayala is better and we have skrtek, agger and jamie still and the tower of our greek monster, so we ok in that area, but with this talking point of so called youth players and second string, its the problem of money, wages and the owners, YES THE OWNERS, I SAY AGAIN THE OWNERS, AND IF WE DO NOT SEE THIS THEN WE ARE BLINDED, RAFA OR ANY NEW COACH, NO MATTER WHO IT IS WILL AND HAS GOT HIS HANDS BEHINED THEIR BACKS, INVEST OR WE ARE DONE FOR. BUT BECAUSE WE ARE SKINT, SELL;

    DARBY, SPEARING, PLESSIES, EL ZHAR, NEMETH, SAN JOSE, INTANDGE CAVALERLI, REIRA AND DEGEN, THAT LOT WOULD GET YOU AT THE VERY MOST £24 MILL. THATS WHAT WE NEED, GET RID OF THE DEADWOOD AND THEN BRING 4 / 5 TOP PLAYERS, BUT THEN IM DREAMING WHAT WITH THESE CON MEN FROM YANKIE LAND IN CHARGE, OWNERS OUT, GET OUT, USA OUT

    Wow. What a well thought out and articulate post. I think that it is worth noting that these players out on loan are almost certainly tipped by the staff as the next generation of players for the first team. Either that or they are being sent out to increase their worth for sale. Personally I would go with the former but you never know. Nemeth is clearly a very talented boy. Boy being the operative word. Any ill concieved comments by him, or any other youth, can be forgiven as the thoughtless musings of the modern young player.

    How the hell can you buy 4-5 quality players with 24 soddin million, that will buy 1.

  • Chris says:

    Samuel, I have to wonder, have you ever even seen any of these lads play? Or are you another one of ‘those’ fans who buys their ‘replica’ shirts from the Market, watches LFC every now and again when they’re on Sky and uses the Sun for all their footballing knowledge. You’re an embarrasment to all true reds.

    The team need scoucers, they gave their heart out for the team so youth should be handled carefully only nemeth can be said as he wants out but other’s on loan are playing their heart’s out to impress rafael benitez, and ofcourse we are not a selling club
