With the arrival of Torres and Sturridge’s improved form there seems to be little place in the Chelsea squad for the former Liverpool, Arsenal and Real Madrid man. He has handed in his transfer request and on top of that is known to be training separately to the rest of the squad. Anelka is almost certain to leave in January and whilst he may be approaching the final stage in his career at thirty-two he still has another two seasons of being a good squad player. They may be unwilling to sell him to their rivals but Arsenal may be interested in their former striker who could provide cover for van Persie this season. Anelka is a proven premier League winner and his experience would be extremely valuable to any club wishing to sign him.
