|

78688753rd Nov – Liverpool 1 – 0 Everton (Reserve PL North game) – The young French defender was man of the match and was praised by reserve team boss John McMahon after the game. It was his attacking play which caught the eye first off in the match as he hit the crossbar from a corner. The 18 year old was commanding at the back throughout the mini-derby and put in a great tackle to prevent Cody Arnoux from getting a chance on goal. Mavinga was at his best once again ten minutes from time after challenging Kieran Agard, contributing greatly to another shut-out at the back to hold onto a 1-0 victory.

29th Oct – Liverpool 1 – 1 Manchester United (4-3 on penalties) (Lancashire Senior Cup) – Despite conceding from a Zoran Tosic free kick in the second half, both Daniel Ayala and Chris Mavinga kept a very solid backline. In the penalty shoot-out, Mazinga scored one and helped Liverpool through to the next round of the cup.

21st Oct – Liverpool 2 – 0 Sunderland (Reserve PL North game) – Started yet another game with Ayala at centre back and kept another clean sheet once again. Sunderland rarely forayed forward during the match and their only real chance of note came early in the match when defender Robbie Threlfall had to block a shot from Liam O’Mahoney.

29th Sept – Liverpool 2 – 0 Manchester City (Reserve PL North game) – Mavinga started on the bench during the important win over City as Daniel Agger replaced him in the centre of defence alongside Daniel Ayala on his return to fitness. Philipp Degen also started the match on his return to injury but had to go off at half-time due to feeling unwell. Mavinga stepped up to the mark and played in his favoured left back position during the second half as the Reds came out 2-0 winners at the match at Eastlands.

17th Sept – Liverpool 1 – 0 Manchester United (Reserve PL North game) – Started the match in central defence once again alongside Daniel Ayala and kept a clean sheet despite the Reds only having ten men for the majority of the match as midfielder Damien Plessis was sent off during the first half for showing studs in a tackle on Magnus Eikrem. The game was most notable for the outstanding goalkeeping performance by David Martin in the Liverpool goal.

2nd Sept – Liverpool 3 – 1 Bolton Wanderers (Reserve PL North game) – Made his debut for Liverpool against Bolton in the centre of defence alongside Daniel Ayala. He made a mistake in first half injury time losing possession of the ball in his own penalty area and giving Javlon Campbell the chance to score. Luckily for Mavinga, Liverpool goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi was on good form and he produced a top class save to prevent the Reds from conceding an equaliser. The French defender did begin to show his class in the second half though and cleared off the line after a shot by Michael O’Halloran was parried by Gulacsi into the path of Danny Ward. Another save from Gulacsi only managed to put the ball in the path of Adam Blakeman who scored from six yards out. It did not matter though as Liverpool reserves prevailed 3-1.
