Andre Wisdom Match Report vs West Brom

|

Wisdom27th Feb – Liverpool 0 – 0 West Brom (Academy Premier League North) – Andre Wisdom played well at the back as the Reds managed to keep a clean sheet. Although the Under 18s would have felt they should have won the match, they were actually lucky to get a point after a late rally from West Brom. On three minutes, the Baggies created a good opening to score when Kayleden Brown’s fired a volley over the top of the goal. The opponents continued to play good, intricate passing football and Wisdom had to be at his most alert as slick passing moves saw both Akil Grier and Mantom come close with long range shots. As Liverpool pressured in the second half, the Baggies caught the Reds on the break a few times and on 65 minutes Elford Alliyu forced a good save from Reds keeper Chris Oldfield. Shots from substitute Saido Berahino and Elford Alliyu both nearly put West Brom into the lead and they perhaps should have been ahead in the last minute when Berahino shot wide with the goal at his mercy. Both Wisdom and his fellow defenders withstood the late onslaught though and despite not being able to win the match, the Reds will be happy they didn’t concede late on.
