LFC Youth Watch – Daniel Ayala Match Report vs Wigan

17th Mar – Liverpool 2 – 0 Wigan (Lancashire Senior Cup) – Daniel Ayala put in a man of the match performance as Liverpool reserves beat Wigan 2-0 to reach the final of the Lancashire Senior Cup. It was a hard fought match and Wigan fielded some experienced players which made the tie a very physical encounter. The Latics made a very good start to the match and winger Rachid Bouaouzan was causing all sorts of problems for the Reds on the left hand side. Despite Liverpool having the best of the first half chances, Wigan had some good opportunities of their own. Tomasz Cwyka particularly had two very good chances to put the home team into the lead, and his second came after a bad backpass fro Dani Pacheco, but the Pole failed to put away his chance. The Reds’ backline continued to stay firm though, and the centre back partnership of Daniel Ayala and Victor Palsson was superb, keeping the Latics at bay in both halves before Pacheco and Dalla Valle sealed victory at the other end. Ayala especially should be singled out for praise and he was given the LFC TV man of the match award for his efforts.
