Babel: Nobody said a word

|

Liverpool winger Ryan Babel was extremely disappointed about the Reds being knocked out by Atletico Madrid in the Europa League semi final last night. He described the atmosphere in the dressing room after the match to Liverpoolfc.tv:

“It hurts a lot because we controlled the game, more or less. We made one mistake and they scored. It’s frustrating when you know you are so close to a trophy and in the end it’s gone. It’s very disappointing. Obviously everyone was quiet and disappointed in the dressing room – nobody said a word. We all need to go home and then we’ll discuss things on Friday. It was difficult mentally for us to get that third goal. Definitely at the end of the season, when you have to play that extra 30 minutes against a good opponent, it’s difficult.”

The Dutch winger really put the effort in last night, chasing lost causes and delivering dangerous crosses into the box. It was not enough though as Liverpool end the season without the prospect of winning a trophy.

theres no point listing 8 players bought over 6 years for LESS than 6m and using it as evidence that rafa is bad in the transfer market. PLAYERS LESS THAN 10M ARE ALWAYS A GAMBLE FOR A TOP CLUB! how many top class players worth 5m can u name. theres a reason they cost 5m. he has spent these amounts on players because thats the money he has. If he has 5m and needs a winger he buys a winger worth 5m. you cud do a hell of a lot worse than 1.5 on ngog or 2m on kirry the greek.

the reason so many players have left is because usually he buys for small money and if they are good enough he keeps them (skrtle, agger, reina, ngog, maxi, yossi, greek, arbeloa (at the time), sissoko (at the time) etc.
im not saying he’s perfect in the transfer market but for less than 35m thats not a bad 9 players at just over 3.5m each.

love how know one mentions chelseas failed signings and wasted millions

he’s not perfect but no one has been more under the microscope

    Sheva – 30m
    Veron – 15m
    Mutu – 18m
    Crespo -17m
    Sean wright philips – 21m
    del horno – 8m
    Jiri Jarosik – 7m
    Glen Johnson – 6m
    Duff – 17m
    Robben 13m
    Scott parker – 10m
    Emmanuel Petit – 7.5m
    Tiago Mendes – 13m
    Mateja Kezman – 6m
    Paulo Ferreira – 13.2m
    Khalid Boulahrouz – 9m
    Jose Bosingwa – 16.2m
    Steve Sidwell – free

    Red Barry
most of those players were welcomed they may have disappointed but isn’t hindsight great!

And if Rafa – one of the most astute managers in Europe – goes, we replace him with who???????????
    Get real.

  • Red barry says:

I’m as entitled to my opinion about Rafas abilities as anyone and my opinion is that he has had his time. Then again according to today’s papers he could well leave us anyway of his own accord. Let’s see how many of his below par signings he takes with him.

Barry- mate you are entitled to your opinion no doubt…

But before making judgement or comments look at the bigger picture and not just the results…
    Do Some research first!

You cant put an anchor round rafas neck and then expect him to go win against a boat race!

  • Red barry says:

I’ve been going to Anfield for 33 years and these players are the most average I’ve seen and that’s my only point here. You all obviously idolize Rafa, well Houlliers worst team and Souness apart I’ve not seen a more average bunch. Maybe I should not expect so much but it hurts that the club I once knew only stood for the best now seemingly readily accepts second best. If that makes me out of touch then so be it. As for doing my research- my memory may let me down but I never thought the standards we set would drop like they are

    33yrs!
Wow… Then you have witnessed some great anfield teams and if that is the level your comparing rafas liverpool to, then he has no chance.. No manager has even with an unlimited budget…
But what i would say is players like:
Raina, masch, agger, johnson, gerrard, torress
can get into any team in the modern era.
5 of the aforementioned were signed by rafa..

I dont idolise rafa…I think hes the best for job!
But barring this season, we have improved every yr under his guidence and almost won the league last finishing 2nd!

All we needed to was add to the squad and not replace quality with quality… That is not a step forward!
The step forward was to introduce some more depth in to the squad to cover us when occur by the bucket load as they did That did not happen, as promised funds disappeared into thin air…. So the season ending the way it has is no surprise to me, but what does surprise me is that the fans dont see this!

‘YOU WILL NEVER WALK ALONE’ THIS IS OUR MOTTO OUR LIFE AND EVERYTHING.

I have been a liverpool fan for 16 years and i have stood by the team through every pain, joy, turmoil and excitement. Have seen managers come and gone, players come and gone…

I just can not believe what has happened to liverpool fans all around the world and what they are saying and fighting with other liverpools fans.

I thought we were the best and the most loveable fans in the world and that we would go through fire for our brothers and sisters including the club and that includes the manager and players. It hurts to see that we have fallen from class, unity and pride, i really thought we were family but something is destroying our love for the club.

A real fan of liverpool would stick with his team come on guys this is nothing we have been through alot as a family but we have to show charachter and class to withstand this problem period otherwise we would be like chelsea fans lol haha just a little joke guys. But i hope you understand what i am saying, instead of putting alot of pressure and negative emotions we should be positive and help our team move forward. God willing we as fan and club will withstand all the negative influence around the club.

We as fans will never really understand what is really going on in the club and how the real finance is arranged internally due to all the politics and mindgames going on. Plus liverpool is like any other business you dont show everything to the public do you. We need a new owner to clear the skeletons in the cupboard and we need to back our team to the final minute. Mr. Benitez is a very good manager and i have enjoyed his reign until now and the fa cup, champions league and other moments. And yes like all other fans i have been dismayed this season but 4 out 5 is better then 1 out 5 good season. We are simple people and simple dreams so bring the simple people attitude back and you will see what happens next season.

People forget we are growing as a club and we are going on the right direction to grow even more financially and brand wise and we fans have to be the ambassidor for the club. So instead of cricising the team we need to stand together and let the club and players and the manager know we are there for them even if it means us singing you will never walk alone the whole 90 minutes and extra time. win loss or draw we give our fullest and you will see that the players will stand up and hold there heads up high and fight for everyballevery tackle every …. you understand. Time for the real liverpool fans to stand up and show what makes us special as a family and as a club….

god bless everyone and stay positive family
lets start to implement this on the chelsea match.
Next season with the same team you will see that it will be a different results i bet my life on it…
