Kyrgiakos: Let’s win a trophy

|

Liverpool defender Sotirios Kygriakos has expressed his delight at being appreciated among the Reds fans. The 30 year old Greek defender, who joined from AEK Athens in the summer, believes his good form since joining the Reds has helped him settle in well on Merseyside:

I have been pleased with my form. I have a good relationship with the fans and I can see that they like me because I give everything for the club when I play. Some of my teammates have told me that I have become a favourite amongst the fans and I am proud of that because it is important for a footballer to be remembered in a positive way once he has gone.

He says he appreciates the support but he wants to focus on his football to help Liverpool overcome Atletico Madrid in the Europa League semi final on Thursday night at Anfield. Soto hopes he can end the season with Liverpool on a high, considering he never expected to be playing in the Premier League at the start of the season.

“At the moment, my mind is focused on Liverpool and if we finish the season with a trophy, that would mark a satisfying season for me because last pre-season, I never thought I’d even be at Liverpool.”
