LFC Youth Watch – Lauri Dalla Valle’s Match v Sunderland

|

4th May – Liverpool 1 – 0 Sunderland (Premier Reserve League North) – Lauri Dalla Valle scored the only goal as Liverpool reserves ended the season on a high. After going the entire month of April without winning, putting pay to their title hopes in the process, the Reds got back to winning ways last night. Many academy players including Academy Conor Coady, Alex Cooper, Deale Chamberlain and John Flanagan were included in the 16-man squad but it didn’t affect the team’s chances during the match. Dalla Valle had the first chance for Liverpool during the match and volleyed a venomous shot into the arms of Sunderland keeper Trevor Carson from the right side of the box. On 25 minutes, the Finnish striker got his second chance to score but he headed wide from a Gerardo Bruna corner. The 18 year old was getting closer and closer to scoring though and he broke the deadlock on 34 minutes after good link up play with Nikola Saric. Dalla Valle flicked the ball to the Dane who ran towards the Sunderland goal before returning it into the Finn’s path. Dalla Valle controlled the ball and took it away from a defender before he shot a low left footed strike from 20 yards out beyond the despairing dive of Carson. Sunderland fought back in the second half but the sending off of Liam Noble for the Black Cats 15 minutes from time quelled the resistance.
