LFC Youth Watch – Nathan Eccleston’s Match v Colchester

|

1st May – Huddersfield 2 – 1 Colchester (League One) – Nathan Eccleston came on as a second half substitute as Huddersfield continued their good vein of form which has seen them secure their playoff place and with the smallest hope of still achieving automatic promotion. Theo Robinson initially put the Terriers in the lead early in the first half and they held their lead until 13 minutes from time when Simon Hackney equalised. In response, Huddersfield manager Lee Clark sent on Eccleston for winger Anthony Pilkington and the young Liverpool loanee was involved straight away in the action. The substitution nearly paid dividends a minute after taking place in the 82nd minute, and after good interchange with striker Jordan Rhodes, Eccleston found himself in time and space on the left hand side, but the striker failed to finish as under very little pressure he dragged his shot wide, so much so that Lee Novak very nearly diverted the ball in. Novak did eventually get his goal however, and scored 4 minutes into injury time to seal victory for Huddersfield.
