An Intriguing Alternative for the Liverpool Hot-Seat?

|

The hot-seat vacated by Rafael Benitez at Liverpool FC remains empty 17 days later. Potential candidates, if we are to believe the media, include Roy Hodgson, Manuel Pellegrini, Martin O’Neill, Mark Hughes, Guus Hiddink, Frank Rijkaard, Slaven Bilic – and even the King himself, Kenny Dalglish.

David Tully on live4Liverpool suggested that “German miracle worker”, 61-year old Ottmar Hitzfeld, should be seriously considered for the Liverpool management role alongside Hodgson and Dalglish. Hitzfeld’s track record is of course second to none. If the Liverpool board were looking more to the future, however, an intriguing alternative might be 46-year old Carlos Caetano Bledorn Verri – more commonly known as Dunga.

Since 2006, rookie football manager Dunga has transformed the Brazil national team into a veritable winning machine. Modelling the team according to his image, true to his beliefs and immune to critique from media and experts, Dunga has made brave choices such as leaving Ronaldinho and Adriano at home and selecting a football team based on the collective rather than the individual. Pragmatic, tactically astute and a natural leader, Dunga’s impressive record with Brazil suggests a manager with an enormous future – and where better to continue his career than Liverpool FC?

His tactical nous and management style suggest that Dunga would have no problem picking up where Rafa left off, ensuring a degree of continuity in playing style and imbuing the team with new leadership and dynamism.

    Possibly seems a nice man

This is one of the two names I would actually like to see as liverpool manager next year. but I see three problems: a) Do we know he is leaving the Brazil team b) George Gillet and c) Tom Hicks. The other manager worth mentioning is Kenny Daglish. If we go for Dunga we need new owners, bottom line.

Does Dunga speak English? Can’t say I’ve ever heard or seen him interviewed. His ability would’t be questioned. Brazil are an excellent team but if they win the world cup and there is a strong possibiilty, then I can see teams in Italy and Spain wanting him an that may be easier for him than the rough and pretty much skill-less premier league.

Why all these stuff and complications. Just appoint Kenny Dalgish and see how the team changes.

  • reds says:

he”ll be the best. he”ll take us to top. just see his current brazilian squad.

    Capello will be available soon.

He was my first choice in 2004.
Kenny Dalglish believes he is a better option than himself for the job.

I am hoping England get knocked out and Capello is at anfield next season.

One question: “WHY”??? It doesnt make any sense to hire third foreign coach in a row that doesnt know how to play the PREM league. Get a grip ppl. Roy Hodgson is coming and he is fine!

  • duane says:

We already have 2 foreign managers but could not win premierleague. It’s not because they’re not good, but maybe they’re not good enough to play premierleague. Hope Liverpool would give the job to Kenny Dalglish.

I think Dunga would be an awesome appointment, but as a former Corinthians player, I doubt he would want to associate himself with Hicks…

You Guys must be out of your minds.
    I have just 1 thing to say….
Isn’t Carlo Ancelloti a foreign coach?
Did he not win the premierleagues in is first season. A good manager is counted by his abilities no by his nationality.
