Juventus have reportedly offered £4million for Liverpool’s out of favour left winger Albert Riera, according to Datasport.it. According to the website, the Reds are seeking £6million for the Spaniard, £2million less than they were demanding back in the January transfer window, but they are unlikely to accept the Italian club’s low offer. Riera has been out of favour on Merseyside since hitting out at Rafa Benitez about the lack of game time he had been given, and describing Liverpool’s campaign last season as a “sinking ship.” Speculation was rife back in January that he was going to move to Russia to get first team football in time for consideration for Spain’s World Cup squad, but he rejected the move because of his wage demands. Riera has said he is prepared to stay at Anfield now Rafa Benitez has left, but it is likely that Liverpool will cash in on the player.

This is factually incorrect. He hit out at Benitez later on. He actually fell out of favour after punching Dani Pacheco in training.

Have never been a fan of him, very limited player, but 4m is a joke. Why should we make a loss on him. At least recoup what we’ve paid.

To solve the problem have Liverpool management over 4 million for one of their players rated higher than 4 million. That might stop the nonsense!
Riera is an excellent player. Only fans who don’t know much about him say he’s crap. He rarely looses the ball and always uses it intelligently. He has excellent ball control and is a great crosser. We struggled without him last season as we didn’t have any balance. Babel and Benayoun aren’t wingers.

Riera has good ball skills, but seriously lacks speed. Jovanovich is hardly the best left-winger in the world, but at least he’s quicker than Riera (and he’s free!)

He is not a bad player, but he is not very consistent and he lacks pace for a winger. To be honest id sell him for 8m and buy Turan. He is keen to put on the reds shirt, and he has an abundance of skill and pace, and would work tirelessly on the wing.
