Rumour Mill: Former Blues Star to be Roy’s first signing?

|

Roy Hodgson has targeted former Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole to be his first signing as Liverpool manager, according to CaughtOffside.com. The Fulham manager is expected to be named as manager of the Anfield club in the coming days, and he has targeted the out of contract player if he can get the financial backing from the board to fund his move. Any stumbling block to the move, according to the website, would be over Cole’s demands for £110k per week wages, totalling a staggering £17.1m over a three year contract. Hodgson’s attempt at a move would also come at the eleventh hour as both Arsenal and AC Milan are said to be leading the chase for the 28 year old. But the attraction of a regular starting place, something he would not be guaranteed at either Arsenal or Milan, may tempt the Londoner to move North to Merseyside.

If Roy can land us Joe Cole I am sure it will go a long way to us accpeting him as our manager – please Roy do this deal!

  • daz says:

Joe Cole would be the type of signing to appease fans and players as well..

we need quality and players that will roll their sleeves up and work hard.

  • steve mcauley says:

agree with fred and daz but, realistically guys, we all know it’s not going to happen! with the cream of europe courting him do you really expect him to come to anfield for eurodisney cup at best?

  • Kav says:

Yeah right, and Liverpool city council have announced zero unemployment in moss side ! Dream on

  • smarts says:

If Roy could sign him that would be good seeing as Yossi may be going! But lets not pay over the odds as I hear Milan want him for £9mil (60k per week!)

  • berno says:

Too injury prone for 110k a week and we do not need anymore injury prone players as Torres, Aquilani and Agger can’t stay fit for a whole season…

  • J Will says:

why is everybody saying that Roy Hodgson is manager of LFC? nobody has said this but media journalist scumbags who have conveniently failed to land a definitive quote from Roy. I want to hear from his mouth that he is the manager. Then I’ll believe it, and I shall reluctantly but fully devote my support to him. but it has not happened. I see not one article that can prove this is true.

  • YNWA!!!! says:

Joe Cole, Arda Turan, Yes please, everybody happy XD

  • daboy says:

I doubt that Cole is worth more than 70k per week and if the club had more money i would not bother with him.

  • fedr1 says:

    lmao.

Kev, you’re obviously stupid and about 12 years old.

Mosside is in Manchester and is far worse than any part of Liverpool.

    Go and get a life!

  • Donal says:

Hodgson has been given a budget of £15m plus sales,he will convince Gerrard and Torres to stay and Mascherano will have to stay as Inter dont want him and Barca want Fabregas, players I have heard Roy is targeting are Joe Cole,Brede Hangeland,John Carew,John Arne Riise,Wayne Hennessey and Stephen Ireland to add to Shelvey and Jovanovic. These are all good signings if he can pull them off ,most are quite old {near 30’s} but until any potential takeover ,which it doesnt look like is going to happen anytime soon we wont be seeing any big name younger players, Riera is off to Juve for £5m,Benayoun is off to Chelsea for £6.5m,Degen is going to Wigan for £1.5m,El Zhar is going to Rennes for £1.8m,San Jose is off to Athletic Bilbao for £2.7m,Krygiakos will be used as a make weight in the Hangeland deal,Cavalieri is off to replace the outgoing Eduardo at SC Braga for £3m,Nemeth is staying in Greece and will bring in £3m,Aurelio,Martin and Plessis are all being released, all in all things arent looking near as bad as every on had said , if Woy gets his wishes this will be are squad next year GK-Reina-Hennessey-Bouzanis-Gulasci RB-Johnson-Darby CB-Carragher-Hangeland-Agger-Skrtel-Ayala-Kelly LB-Riise-Insua RM-Cole-Rodriguez CM-Gerrard-Mascherano-Lucas-Spearing-Shelvey CAM-Aquilani-Ireland LM-Babel-Jovanovic ST-Torres-Kuyt-Carew-N’gog-Pacheco-Dalle Valle
