“I came here to challenge for honours”

|

Liverpool signing Joe Cole has spoken of his ambitions playing for his new club. He told Liverpoolfc.tv:

“I came here to work hard and challenge for honours with Liverpool, and with the players we have got then it is possible. Just look at the team we have got already. Fernando is as good as anyone in the world in his position, and the same applies to Stevie Gerrard in his position. Then you have got Pepe Reina who is up at the very top, and Jamie Carragher, who has been one of the best there is for a long time. There are Maxi Rodriguez and Dirk Kuyt who had great World Cups, and so many other top international names that roll off the tongue.  If we can keep players fit, then we can play well together. It’s all about us being together as a team and having the spirit which can take you a long way. If you add that to the quality players we’ve got here we can go a long way – I believe with the world class players we have we can do great things.”

Cole will wear the number 10 shirt next season.
