If this great man believes in Roy, so should we

|

Belief has been replaced by hope for the Liverpool fan of late. With the disappointment of last season compounded by the embarrassment of Wednesday night there has been an onset of despair and anger that have been manifest in some quite strident attacks on the new manager.

If Hodgson really was fearful of the pressure of playing Manchester United away from home, explaining the negative tactics of the first half, and will not facilitate the pass and move style that is required of a Champions League side, then his lack of ambition is not conducive to the club I love. The Torres that fed on scraps last year seems to be in need of a more generous diet so far this season, and the ingredients are available in Gerrard, Cole and Meireles. Perhaps more than anything it is the potential of these players that sums up the frustrations with the apparently conservative Hodgson approach.  This sentiment was only heightened by the undignified manner with which we were dumped out of the Carling Cup, the most achievable means of silverware this season.

Yet against Manchester United we did not quite play the dire stuff the media would have us believe. Interplay between the midfield, perhaps excluding the poor performance of Maxi Rodriguez, suggested that there was an understanding and appreciation of each others’ abilities which will develop given time. The creativity that was more evident in the second half should be a priority on the training ground, perhaps supplemented by greater fluidity and playing freedom for Cole, Gerrard and Meireles. All three are interchangeable in many aspects and have the versatility to play in triangles that progress into the final third. The Kop will probably not see a player of the consistency, precision and perception of Xabi Alonso for a long time, so adopting a greater team ethic in attack is paramount for this Liverpool squad to have any kind of success in this campaign.

roy has to get us playing positive attacking football, the odd defeat is much easier to take then

If Roy continue to become Liverpool manager in january, then surely Torres will put in a transfer request because Roy tactic is suitable for the Liverpool attacking formations as Roy only how to defend.

From the selections he picks for macthes against Man City, Birmingham, Man Utd, he is not going for a win but just want for a draw. These situations also can be seen in the subsitutions he made during the game.

If there is takeover happen in the near futures, I expected Roy to sacked and become the “First Manager” of Liverpool to be sacked so early and “Break the Record”.

Look everyone knows the situation of our club through this days. Even manager like Mourinho cant help at this situation. No transfer money, ownership problems, big players form, injuries and so on… But the manager like Roy( If given time to settle) can work wonders. If after one manth when new owners found, every players is fit and back to form we may think he his right guy for this club at right time.
One thing i like to share in i read a news that sneider expressed his willingness to leave inter. We need a mid who can work wide. Why cant we sell old Kuyt and Lucas swap for him. and we can also his Masch money in striker(Without help of owners)…….

roy is on very dangerous ground if he thinks the protesters are an imposition on the club – he might very very soon be out of a job – he better get aquainted with what this sclub is about, not believe what 3 money men tell him.

  • Jz says:

don’t expect the captain to say something negative. but this doesn’t mean there is believe. pls do not confuse loyalty with belief. roy has been terrible choice for liverpool.

People need to give the new manage and new squad members time to settle. anyone who thinks he’s going anywhere in january needs to pull their head out of their arse. The result against manc scum, although gutting, was a strong team performance, in the second half especially.

Agree that RH needs to be given a chance, but he also needs to help himself! Pick a style and shape that suits the players he has and be brave in team selection.
First duty of defenders is to defend – getting carved open too often by wannabe wingers without a ‘trick’ is leaving our centre open to attack where it seems Sir Carra’s legs have lost another yard of pace since last year.
The midfield comprises regular, seasoned internationals who ‘should’ strike fear into the opposition – believe! There is a need (imho) for a speedy right winger but the eadeavour of DK is a necessecity sometimes if thinges become laboured.
Strikers need support and a regular supply of ammo and equally they can’t plough lone furroughs all the time. There needs to be a guy up there to support Mr Torres. Cole has the guile but then Babel & Ngog are showing signs of being good central strikers.
Although re-building the team, the ethos of LFC and the chants from the Kop have always been ‘attack attack attack’. sitting back and letting teams come at you invites trouble. Playing the game in the opposition’s half provides more chances to win – the point of the exercise, surely?

    Suggestion for next game (if all are fit, lol);
    Reina
    kelly-skrtel-agger-aurelio
    kuyt-gerrard-mareiles-jovanovic
    torres-cole
    subs: jones,johnson,ngog,babel,lucas,konchesky
