Liverpool must start to play away!

|

Liverpool’s away form at times last season cost them in the hunt for Champions League football. In the nineteen away league games, their record of just five wins, six draws and eight defeats was not good enough for a side that should have been in the title chase after such progress was made in the previous campaign.

Too many draws and not enough adventure cost Liverpool at places like Wigan, Fulham and Portsmouth. There was also the beachball incident at Sunderland, which seems to some up the lack of good fortune on the road last term.

A new season and a new manager and Liverpool have already lost once on the road, but a difficult trip to a City side which have funds to burn was always going to be a uphill task. The next away day is at Old Trafford, The Reds will have to look to the 2008/09 season when the reds were able to thrash United on the day 4-1. That type of performance must be catalyst for this campaign. The reds played some fearless football that day, despite being behind. That is what we need all season long from Hodgson’s men, the ability to treat every away game as if it was an Old Trafford. Every game must bring the determination to get the points. If the number of draws and defeats on the road can be cut then we could all be looking forward to a return to the champions league next season and how nice would that be.

I'm 25 years of age born in Liverpool and from Anfield. I've been a red for as long as I can remember. I was brought up on constant viewings of the goal rush video so you could say he is the man I first dribbled over talent wise but much more recent like many of the other writers Fowler was my god. Interesting fact is my dad like Jan Molby so much he actually tried to call me "Jan".
