SIX players that must grab this chance with both hands

|

Ryan Babel – The Dutch attacker will lead the line for the Reds tonight and, with his recent admission of favouring the striker role, has his chance to get amongst the goalscorers and show Hodgson that he is better suited as a frontman as opposed to a winger. With a serious bout of inconsistency faltering Babel’s Liverpool career so far, he has now been given a new lease of life, as a striker, to show the fans what he can do and reward them with the patience they have shown him over the past three years. With Fernando Torres being rested for tonight’s Cup tie, Babel must take his chance and get himself a goal or two against the Cobblers.

David Ngog – The inclusion of Ngog in this list may surprise a few people since he is in fact Liverpool’s top goalscorer so far this season, however, when everybody is fit, and with the formation that Liverpool and Roy Hodgson tend to employ, David Ngog would only find himself on the substitutes bench with Fernando Torres the lone striker in a 4-2-3-1 formation. Nevertheless, if the Frenchman can continue his brilliant goalscoring form tonight then it may force Hodgson to re-think his tactics and, similarly to the second half against Man United, place Ngog up alongside Fernando Torres in a 4-4-2 style of play; something which would surely provide more goals for the team.

It will be interesting to see the teamsheet for tonight’s game against Northampton, however, one thing is for sure, the majority of the eleven that do start the match will not be names that we see often on the pitch from the start for Liverpool and, therefore, the eleven that do play must grab their opportunity with both hands and deliver on the pitch and allow Liverpool to pass the test of a potential banana skin against a Northampton Town side looking for a major upset.

I think Roy is warming to Soto, certainly the best hesder of a ball wev’e got

  • phil says:

Soto is good in the air but awful along the ground. Last weeks goal in europe was conceded because he did’nt intercept the ball. He’s a player that should be sold to fast track either Ayala or Kelly….Anyone who can’t see Kelly as a CB is a moron!

  • daboy says:

One i think who most must impress Roy is Pacheco because surely something has to be done about Maxi’s poor showings.

  • Richard says:

Agree with daboy, dani was outstanding in the u19’s euro cup out on the left and should be given the chance he deserves. Maxi has not been up to much so far along with jova. Wish hodgson would take a risk and give the young lad a go. It’s not working at the moment and unless we do something else mediocracy awaits!

  • Silver Fox says:

Phil Yeats was poor on the ground as well. The goal came from the player Kelly should have tracking. Kelly a player I think should make at LFC can play anywhere along back line and also could play in a defensive midfield role. That quote comes from someone who coached him in the Acadamy and kept on telling me he was the one to watch coming through.

Just see who captains the reds tonight!!
