A winger that could be the answer to Roy’s prayers?

|

At Nantes, he made a name for himself, making his debut for the senior team during the 2005/06 season against Bordeaux and scoring his first senior goal against Metz a month later in January 2006. During his stay at Nantes, he was called up by France U21s for the first time against Switzerland in February 2007, and up until his senior call up this week, he had played 11 times scoring an impressive four goals for the Under 21s.

After three relatively successful years with Nantes, Payet transferred to St Etienne for the start of the 2007/08 season. Although he hasn’t been a prolific scorer from the right winger during his three year spell at the club, he has appeared in over 100 league matches for his club. This season however really has been Payet’s breakthrough season with one of his most impressive displays coming in August when he scored a hat-trick against Lens in a 3-1 victory. His impressive form has attracted the interest of some top clubs, and according to reports, Liverpool have sent some scouts to watch the player.

Considering the fact that we are not playing with any wingers at the moment, the impressive displays on the right side by Payet should be attracting the attention of the Reds. After all, both goals and assists are important if you play a 4-2-3-1 formation, and he would seem to be a player who could fulfil the role on the right hand side if he continues his good run of form. According to the French media, Payet has expressed an interest in coming to England in the past while it has also been suggested that he would favour Liverpool over Aston Villa, who are also said to be tracking the young winger. Currently valued at £7million, he would be a cheaper option than many other similar players on the market, but we will have to wait and see whether either there is money available in January or if Roy believes the Frenchman is the right sort of player for Liverpool.

    Sell :

    – Brad Jones for 2M (Sell only in the July transfer window 2011)
    – Charles Itandje for 1M
    – Sotirios Kyrgiakos for 3M
    – Fabio Aurelio for 5M
    – Christian Poulsen for 5M
    – Lucas Leiva for 6M
    – Maxi Rodriguez for 9M
    – Ryan Babel for 6M
    – Dirk Kuyt for 15M
    – Milan Jovanovic for 7M

    Buy :

David de Gea for 10M – Only 19 and already seems like a Casillas. Plus he has a desire of playing on the same team as Torres, this is his chance. His chance to do as well as Pepe maybe even better, his chance to shine at Anfield, his chance to play with Torres.

Frank Fielding for1/4 M – To replace Brad Jones. Plus, he maintains the number of English players in the squad.

Fabio Coentrao for 10M – He is a superb left-back, full of pace and is capable of running pass defenders. He’s like a left-footed Glen Johnson who loves going forward with the ball and getting shots on goal as well as supplying good balls into the box. We can get Mereiles to persuade him to sign for Liverpool.

Javi Martinez for 18M – Young, has a great eye, really fast, good in the air(excellent for set-pieces), could be the next Xabi Alonso(a void that couldn’t be filled since Xabi left) and at 21 he is a heck load better than Lucas.

Juan Mata for 10M – He’d be the solution to the lack of depth on the left-wing(something that has been missing for quite sometime now). He has the pace, the ability and a great mind . He is one talented young man. Plus he will cope well with Torres. It’d be fantastic to see him in play for Liverpool.

Valter Birsa for 2M – An up and coming player. He still has many more years to come and I’m sure he would like a switch to Liverpool as two seasons ago, we were known as one of the Premier League’s biggest clubs. By making the switch, he gives himself a bigger challenge after succeeding to help Auxerre qualify for the Champs League but this time for Liverpool.

Adam Johnson for 8M – It’d be better if we had some competition. This will make the players do even better to get first team action. Therefore, Juan Mata, Valter Birsa, Joe Cole and Adam Johnson would have to fight for their place in the team. By signing him, we wont only have a great first team but we’ll have super subs too ! Adds to the number of English players in the club.

Eljero Elia for 15M – Forget Carlton Cole, N’gog is almost as good as him. If we want a quality striker, Elia is the man for the job. He’s really fast and talented. I see a bright future for this young lad if he was placed under Hodgson’s wings. With both Torres and Elia’s speed, no doubt this two will cause a heck load of havoc to the opposing teams backline.

Problem solved. Torres and Gerrard will stay. Plus we get more quality additions to the team.

    Final team :

    Reina, De Gea, Fielding
    Carragher, Skrtel, Agger, Wilson
    G. Johnson, Coentrao, Konchesky, Kelly
    Gerrard, Martinez, Mereiles, Spearing, Shelvey
Mata, J. Cole, A. Johnson, Birsa
    Torres, Elia, N’gog, Pacheco

Rogue,,,, you have obviously started on teh Friday night drinks a little early!!!!!! Or just playing too much fantasy football,,,, big old mate Roy could not even buy a forward,,,, forget your big list. Law

  • Guy says:

ROGUE – stick to champ man, this is the real world

  • steve mcauley says:

i want to respond to rogue but……………the words escape me!

  • Roy says:

Impressive list Rogue, one drawback, the whole list you have up for sale would probably leave you out of pocket! plus most of these players would turn us down because of our poxy money grabbing owners, so pure fantasy, still we all dream a little. Now back to Payet, yes, it would be nice to see players like him interested in playing at Anfield, But i’m becoming increasingly fed up with all these players being linked to us. Mostly there’s little or no truth behind them, looks like Owen’s comming back too! why? he can’t get in the spastics side, unless Fergie plays his reserves! Mind you probably another load of crap that’s doing the rounds.

  • Ackram says:

ROGUE-: r u mental.we have just signed jones,he hasn’t hardly played a game and you want to get rid of him?also 9 mil for rodriguez ?pure fantasy.let’s just concentrate on getting in champs league this yr and go from there.

  • juez says:

List of players that need to be offload this January :-

    1.Lucas Leiva
    2.Maxi Rodriguez
3.Ryan Babel (even in europa league he didnt play much)
    4.Alberto Aquilani

    ————–
    Then buy :-
At least 1 natural winger (Arda Turan/Dimitri Payet)

    Buy another striker.

    Also:-
Promote Jonjo Shelvey to 1st team, replacing Lucas Leiva ( save money and he’s good too ).

  • Rafa says:

lol @ROGUE-this is not Fooball Manager 2010!hahaha!

  • ROGUE says:

Hahahahaha true. I’m dreaming but really Liverpool needs a total revamp. 99.9% unlikely to happen but there is still a possibility but like @Law said Hodgson couldn’t even sign a striker. But I can dream, can’t I?

  • lfc4life says:

the best transfer for us is not a footbal player.
the best transfer could be the new owner 😉
