What a week it has been off the pitch for Liverpool FC. With the majority of the board agreeing to a takeover by John W Henry and New England Sports Venture, Tom Hicks and George Gillett stepped in to challenge Martin Broughton’s authority and attempted to sack fellow board members Ian Ayre and Christian Purslow who agreed to the deal. The matter will be settled in court next week, and hopefully the hapless reign of these two Americans will be over by this time next week. The week’s blogs have been on a mixture of off the field and on the field subjects. We welcome new writers Mark Roberts and Eddie Kirwan to the site this week, make sure to check Eddie’s article about his Rafa Benitez’s interview with the Irish newspaper the Sunday Independent, “Liverpool is my home and I will come back.” Make sure to check out Mark’s article which will be published today also. I also thank Rohan Kallicharan, David Tyrer, Mark Wilson, Elliott Tunstall, Karl Thyer, Kevin Messam, Niall Sherry, John Toher and Andrew Blanche for writing for the site this week. Enjoy reading!
