ANOTHER False Dawn, and the fault lies at one man’s door

|

This brings us back to the questions we’ve all asked again and again this season: why is there such a huge problem? And where does it lie? We could have pointed in the past to ownership issues, but that has been put well and truly to bed. We have new owners and they are still working on a plan for the club’s future, and besides, the feel-good factor created by their arrival is still there, for the most part. Then there is the obvious answer – the manager, but that’s become a taboo subject; it’s not poor Roy’s fault, he can only work with the inadequate tools he has and those he inherited weren’t very good.  So that would suggest that the players are the main source of the problem.  However, the performance two weeks ago shows that this argument is moot; these players are more than capable, when they want to be. Also, isn’t it only a bad workman who blames his tools? And besides we’ve seen from his time at Fulham that Roy is competent at getting big results with limited resources, so why he and the media keep peddling the same excuse about a limited squad doesn’t make any sense.  Just as how we can one week beat Chelsea 2 nil, then the following week lose by the same score to Stoke.  Using the same players, with the same formation.  Do we have a squad full of ‘Big-Time Charlie’s’?  You wouldn’t have thought so, as they didn’t seem to have a problem beating teams like Stoke in the past.  In fact, hadn’t it been over 25 years since Stoke last beat us, home or away? So I don’t believe that the problem lies with the players ‘not turning up’ as Chris Waddle stated during the game on Saturday, not in the sense he means anyway.

What I am inclined to think is the problem though, is that the fans have no faith in the manager, which in turn has been leaking out – almost flooding – at games this season, which has developed into a situation where apathy and negativity has begun affecting the players to the point where they have no inspiration from the fans, and are getting none from the management either. We are in a vicious circle, and it needs to end by removing one of the involved elements. Rather than stating the obvious, I will just point to one quote from Roy himself from this morning:

“If the club decide they want to give the job to somebody else, then I’ll have to accept that, if that day comes.”

In saying that, perhaps even he has realised that the situation he finds himself in is irreparable and it would be best for all involved.

firstly i want and wanted him to do well but here’s what i dont like about roy.
    1. his houndog persona during games.
    2. his holding his head in his hands.
    3. his grabbing his face.
    4. his 100% record on saying the wrong thing.
    5. two of the 3 players he bought.
    6. his team selection.
    7. his tried and trusted (by him) system.
    8. his total lack of understanding of the fans.
    9. his glass half empty attitude.
    10. his sucking up to purple nose.
    11. his lack of fight or fighting words.
    12. his talking down expectations.
    13. his lack of ambition.
    14. his pleas for time.
15 unforgivably not buying a striker.

    To add to the list:

    16. Not supporting his players (Sir Ass Face on Torres)
    17. Publicly criticizing your own players (Johnson)
    18. Constantly looking to Sammy Lee for advise

and by the way I though he wanted to be judged by the end of 10 games not 38-55.

  • Ste says:

Hasn’t this whopper been sacked yet??????.

Oh dear, deserve all we get dont we!?.

Sammy Lee has gorra GO aswell!!!!!!.

  • Red Sky says:

This is the first time in my 40yrs of supporting Liverpool I don’t feel like watching the games…just seeing him sitting there rubbing his damn chin trying to figure out what to do next. Why was Gerard playing so deep..why did Kyut not play as a supporting striker as he did against Chelsea. If that worked for you why..oh why revert to a defensive formation against Wigan and Stoke.

Agree with Red Sky(tho my skies are blue at the mo)
Purslow landed us with this guy in place of Rafa???
3 games in i was gobsmacked to think what we had let go,and what is in place???.Broughton feared the press???where against Benitez, but this is the same
press that lambasted Rafa in favour of Red Nose???
Sorry, sorry and sorry again, we could`nt be in a worse position under Rafa and with European Footy ahead what chance do we stand???Gutted for me,Gutted for the fans and GUTTED we are where we are right now.

    • Red Sky says:

There is a lot of negative comments that have come out of Rafa’s time, I agree he was not perfect but what did he bring us:

      1. He brought us back to the top of Europe
      2. Every year we had Camps League
      3. We were a difficult team to beat

He had 1 really bad season and he was shipped out. Anyone taken the time to see how Inter are playing?

Anyone care to list what Roy has given us so far?

      oh yea..Polsen?

      • ken08 says:

Too right Red Sky,1 poor season,we were feared in Europe(battered Barca,Real the Mancs) Rafa had Ferguson on the back foot ALL the time, jousted with Maureenio, and slaughtered Rijkaard, and OUR players(Gerrard and Carragher) helped to get rid,i STILL cant believe it and i bet they can`t either,Rafa would`nt have given Carragher a 2yr contract he`d have offered a rolling one and make him play for his money(the same player who would`nt play right back for Benitez)And Gerrard i`ll play anywhere for England but not his own team, and anyone notice just how much HE gives the ball away in mid-field??? at least we expect it from Lucas.

          lucas pass completion is 90%+!!

        • Frank says:

Ken08, you are making a worrying point I fear may be the true problem at LFC, SG and Carra have gotten too big for their boots and are part of the problem now. I also think they helped Purslow get rid of Rafa and so they have as much to answer for as the Judas who is still advising the owners. What chance have we got with owners that are moving the club in the same direction that Purslow has been driving?!!!

the new owners need to hear the kop sing their desire far more loudly and remind them of the old regime and why they were so despised. I can’t believe I am saying this, but a march to demonstrate the dissatisfaction is in order me thinks.

  • OGENE IGBO says:

Too many bad words on dis roy. wel..red sky pls have mercy on him..cos he’s nt man enough.

  • stan howard says:

the simple fact is the players obviously dont feel comfortable with the new set up. so to continue with it is foolish.

  • Red4Life says:

    Guys

Heres a question for thought !!!

    1. The way RH is blundering at interviews
    2. Not backing our players in public
    3. Playing players out of position
    4. Negative tactics

These amongst – amongst others reasons, does anyone think this constitutes constructive dismisal of some of the valuable players?

If anything similar was happening at anyone elses work place there would soon be the involvement of unions and court cases – just a random thought for everyone elses opinion.

I still maintain RH was the wrong person for the LFC job, needed a strong charachter and leader in the mould of Rafa / Kenny / Jose / Hiddink (along with Paco) and NOT a meak individual like Uncle Roy / Sammy etc.

Enough is enough, we have had far too much patience, we deserve better than what we have seen so far, RH is blubbering and coming out with his equivalent of Bushisms – its embarrasing.

    Sorry for the rant.

Well with the current owners apparently not spending dough in January, and Henry already playing dumb and making excuses, they will not sack Hodgson now it is going to cost them money.
I am growing more weary by the day of our new custodians, i can see that sadly Gerrard and Carra most likely wont see the title they crave if they stay.

  • stan howard says:

mr henry said judge us on actions not words – ok show us some actions ? no mr henry it dosnt need to take time, we already have players good enough to win trophies now (especially with a little ACTION in january) action one is obvious.

  • David Shamash says:

Why does everyone make a big deal of us beating chelsea???? Sunderland beat them 3-0 AWAY. They werent playing there best 3 players against us. I dont think that win is a benchmark to go forward from. ROY OUT!!!! What do people think of Ian Holloway. He has a rubbish team of players all playing at their best I want him in take a chance
