It really is hard to believe

|

Our victory on Saturday past was pleasing, especially as it was achieved without the services of our skipper and without the customary Torres goal against West Ham.  To score three goals in these circumstances was satisfying.  However, before we get carried away, Liverpool are still the only side in the top half of the league with a negative goal difference!  I would like to see our team remedy this ill over the weeks and months ahead, and as I said our team, not just El Nino and Stevie, but Cole, Kuyt, Ngog, Maxi, Meireles, Johnson etc!   There is also no doubt in my mind that Carra, Soto & Sktrel could and should weigh in with a few more goals, especially from set pieces.

Up next is a real ‘Super Sunday’ – Spurs at the Lane!  This will be a huge test for our boys, and for the boss.  We desperately need to improve on our away form, a win at the Reebok is our only maximum from our travels this season.  It will be interesting to see who gets the nod when the team sheet arrives around 3pm.  Will Roy stick with the winning side from last week?  Will he tinker a little and play five in midfield?  I thought David Ngog played very well last week, a willing runner and someone to take one or two defenders away from Fernando.  I think Torres appreciated the sharing of workload up front.  Its an interesting dilemma the boss faces, Lucas will be available, Joe Cole should be fit.

It should be an interesting tactical battle, Roy vs Harry. With the ammunition at his disposal, I dont see Harry sitting back.  Van Der Vaart, Modric,  Defoe, Crouch, Lennon,  Bale, makes for an exciting afternoon.  Whether or not Glen Johnson enjoys his Sunday remains to be seen.  He will need to ensure his defensive attributes are sparkling to keep the latest ‘Welsh Wizard’ at bay.

To win at Spurs would send a clear message to one and all – The demise of Liverpool FC has been greatly exaggerated.

If we hadn’t been so pathetic against Sunderland, Blackpool, Wigan and Stoke we would be top of the table now with Chelsea and Utd. This league is there to be won-the standard is terrible-even with this squad we could win it if we put Johnson on the rightwing and put Kuyt up front with Torres and push high up the pitch and play an offside trap.

  • How things might have been if we didn’t have Woy in charge…. This is what needs to change, I am tired of hearing some of the naff players he is linked to. Davies, Capdevlia (32 no prem experience)we’ll have no chance of attracting players like Hazard or Benzema with mid table Woy … Give us a wave Woy and turn the lights off on your way out !
