Loan Watch – What are Aqua, Ayala and the boys up to?

|

Alberto Aquilani – Aquilani continued his good form in a Juventus shirt in Juve’s 2-0 win over Genoa at the weekend. Despite being substituted for Hasan Salihamidzic in the second half, Aqua ran the game from central midfield with some pin point accurate passes. He looked to have acres of space in midfield alongside Felipe Melo, and looked calm and collected on the ball, distributing balls left and right. Most impressive was Aqua’s long diagonal passes which more often than not reached their targets with deadly accuracy. Last week, the Italian midfielder expressed that he will like to stay at Juve after his loan spell finishes at the end of the season, although he is not sure whether the Italian club can afford the €13million option that the “Old Lady” has on him. It would be fair to say though that the pace of Serie A does suit the player, and although it is hard to say whether he could have had the same impact at Liverpool as he wasn’t really given the chance, the time and space available to him in Italy allows Aqua to pick out passes at will. Highlights of his display are shown in the video below. Look out for the clever flick at 2.24:

Daniel Ayala – The Spanish defender has impressed during his loan spell at Championship side Hull but he was missing from the Tigers’ 1-0 home victory against Ipswich Town with a slight hamstring injury. Kamil Zayatte replaced the Spaniard in the team and Hull sealed victory through a Robert Koren strike from 25 yards out just 13 minutes from time. Ayala had really impressed against Preston North End in Hull’s 2-0 victory at Deepdale the previous match though. He was up against a classic English centre forward in Jon Parkin, and more than held his own. New Director of Football Strategy Damien Comolli was at the match to check out Ayala’s progress, giving the player some encouragement that he is still in Liverpool’s plans.

LFC are going to have move on.

We helped aquilani move back to itay, fit, fresh and improved from his new short challenge in Liverpool, he siad that himself, however, itay is oatly and there league is a different world to the pace of the premiership.
can we not just move on please, aquilani was a good sound passer of the ball, a fairly good player but world class, no. good in the tackle, er no. good in the air not really, please lets move on we have a deal with juve to sell him in the summer for 13.1 million, we need the money, we need new better quality players asap! sell him and then move on.

Fans are fickle when it comes to this guy, he jumped at the chance to go back to itay and the other day was talking about which liverpool players he would like to see in itay!? thats nice of him is it not? and yet fans lord him as this alonso style player who never was? sell him and get on with it.

out can go insua, no pace, to heavy and was not going to cut it, did ok for about 5 -7 games, but then was played to much, good young player but lets leave it at that.

babel is just pure s***e, he has done about 5 thigs since being at the club, and he has bundles of chances, had enough of him get rid and please lets have the cahs and move on.

Loaning out Aquilani lose-lose situation for us but guess Hodgson didn’t realise that, well not like he realises anything really. Just hope Juventus make his move permanent and pay us 13 mil but if they decide against it, Aquilani is welcome back and hopefully he can show us his real quality next season. As for Insua, he’s not top class but he’s still young and has potential to be a decent left back and I think we might just regret it if we sell him cause I’d have him over Konchesky any day of the week.

      yeah yeah yeah

    • David Shamash says:

I would not have Insua over Konchesky. Insua was the worst left back in the premiership he is the sole reason why we didn’t come 4th last year he was awful I cant believe that fans rate him I am happy we replaced him with Konchesky who in turn needs to be replaced cos he is poor too just not as bad as Insua

  • Big Dee says:

The difference between Aquilani and Alonso/Gerrard is his speed of passing. Looks great at half speed but he can’t cut the mustard at the top level. I wish him well in the future.

  • Karim says:

Why cant people get over Aqualani? i had never even heard of him when he came from Roma and he was a panic buy with a dodgy injury record. let him go back to italy, it didnt work for him here. We need the money and we should go and buy parker or even noble from west ham, both of these players are good enough.

    • Eric says:

mate are you joking? parker may be good enough but he’s too old and noble’s no where near the quality we’re looking for…

    • David Shamash says:

You fool! if Parker and Nolan where good enough for a team aiming to win the league than west ham wouldn’t be rock bottom of the premiership
