So who are these TWO Swedes that the Reds are interested in?

|

Behrang Safari – was born in Tehran in Iran but moved to Sweden when he was two years old. He initially lived in a small town called Hoganas before moving to Lund at the age of five. Here he started to play football with the local club team Lunds SK, making his way through the youth ranks until he became a first team player at senior level in the fourth division of Swedish football. Still young, Safari heard that Swedish giants Malmo had sent a youth team to play Lund’s junior side and asked if he could play in the match.

Safari impressed Malmo’s coaching staff during the match and he signed a youth contract with the Swedish Allsvenskan side back in 2004. He made his debut for the senior team in July of that year and initially played as a left winger. Manager Tom Prahl preferred to play a 3-5-2 at the time and Safari learnt to play as a wing back with both defensive and offensive duties. Although not a first team player yet, Malmo won the first division title in his first season at the club, and Safari established himself in the starting eleven in his second campaign. In 2008, Safari was called up for Sweden for the first time and played in all three matches on Sweden’s friendly tour against Costa Rica, United States and Turkey. He has now appeared 17 times for his country.

After four years at Malmo, Safari was purchased by Swiss team FC Basel and made his European debut in a Champions League qualifying round against Swedish team IFK Gothenburg. The 25 year old has appeared 66 times in the league over two and half seasons for the Swiss team, scoring one goal.

    Who are they? No marks!

Are we genuinely looking at these players? So does that mean Roy has decided it was a mistake to sign Konchesky and re-sign Aurelio? Surely we just need 1 really good left back, like Coentrao, and then decide which of our 3 left-backs (incl. Insua, if he comes back in January) will be the backup. We don’t need any more mid-level, Konchesky-class left-backs.

he afraid to manage star players..he cant handle them..Liverpool’s manager is too big for hodgson, he should walk off..

Why not, that’ll give us two swedes and a cabbage

It’s quite clear that we need a new quality left back. Konchesky simply isn’t good enough so I think it’d be good if we can get Wendt on the cheap.
