These types of players are never fashionable however, which is why Kevin Davies’ recent call up to the England squad caused a stir. But even the best international team in the world, Spain, have recognised the value of having a big target man in the squad through their continued selection of Fernando Llorente, who incidentally is also being linked with a move to Anfield.
Come January I believe it is imperative that we find a strike partner for Torres who provides the team with an alternative solution going forward. We already have the forward who can stretch defenders with his pace in the shape of Torres, now all we need is a big, physical striker to terrorise defences aerially. Some people may argue that this type of player only encourages the team to use more long balls. Well, we aren’t exactly known for playing ‘pure football’ at the moment, and I would rather we have a plan B to turn to in times when we’re under pressure. These types of players are effective especially when the going gets tough. Whoever we bring in, I’m expecting him to not only relieve Torres of his goal scoring burden, but also to help share Kyrgiakos’ duties by posing a serious threat to the opposition during our set pieces.

Great point. And I don’t think theres any debate that its that type Roy’s looking for. But we also want a quality goal threat as well. Llorente is every LFC fans dream.
Yes they are what we need but some wingers that can cross are needed to compliment them.

You’re absolutely bang on regarding the impact of Soto with Stevie’s delivery a few more of similar stature with Llorente’s quality could only add more dimensions to our attack. It feels as if having options up front is a luxury we’ve not enjoyed since Crouch left. As for the post regarding a rooney or tevez like player why can’t we have both? Its been long established that to win a league your best chances are with four varying types of quality striker.

Yeha sure, bring on another gun striker, to sit in the box like our current one and twiddle his thumbs. A striker is useless if he has no service. You can have Ten Torres sitting up in the box it wont make a lick of difference.
First and foremost we need to get rid of Roy asap, or there will be no quality sognongs for us if he is still here. Who in their right mind would sign for a club who has an inept senile old fart as their manager????
