22 lost points already? Something has to change Roy

|

As many in the media have not failed to remind us again and again this season: last season was not very impressive, yet we still managed 5 away wins in the League; 9 overall. So it is safe to say that we are currently far behind even last season’s standards with this record.

While many will be quick to blame the players for this, it must (again) be pointed out that Hodgson’s away record whilst managing in the Premier League is notoriously poor – 13 away wins in 6 seasons, which amounts to something like a 17% win ratio over that time. In fact, Liverpool’s win away at Bolton was Hodgson’s first since the beginning of last season. What this points to is that the current manager struggles away from home, no matter the players or the team. For a team with even Liverpool’s minimum aspirations, this does not add up to a successful season.

I will avoid a detailed bashing of the manager, as hard as it is given the near constant ammunition we’re given but I will simply say this: it needs to change. If we carry on this way and the second half of the season mirrors the first, then we will end the season with around 10-13 away points from a possible 57. Having dropped 22 away from home already, it should have set bells ringing that the mindset and approach for away days needs to be very seriously reconsidered.

when i see thevpathetic non effort of torres i almost, only almost feel sorry for rubroy.

skyrtle was poor kanhesky was poor, only poor, is he improving ? torres was as redknap rightly said diabolical. the only centre forward who dosnt hassle the opposition, i’m afraid he is after away because he dosnt believe we can make the champions league and as he is the only one who can get us there it dosnt bode well. torres is now a homer. i believe we should give him his wish and sell him but only for the right price and not to spain or at least not to stinking barcelona who seem to be able to upset our players at will. unless starts chasing and harrying defenders away from home and resumes being fernando torres.

Yes, something has to change. Our poor away record has to change and that can only happen if we change our manager. Do you really think that the team will improve under Hodgson? His mindset and approach to games has always been the same throughout the season and his plans and tactics clearly are not working. I can’t believe that NESV still haven’t realised that Hodgson isn’t the man to bring us forward. However nice the gaffer might be, he’s not the man for the job. He’s completely out of his depth and looks clueless at times.

Getting 5 away point out of a possible 27 is just unacceptable for a club like Liverpool. Our performances and results this season suggest that Hodgson is not up to the task and we need a manager who can motivate the players and apply the correct plans and tactics. Can you see our away record improving under this guy? Do you think we can get a Champions League place under this guy?

YES, something has to change, THE MANAGER! AND the 120 grand-a-week striker who looks like he doesn’t give a toss! the torres we all know and love is world-class but the torres we have had this season is of no use to anybody! at this rate we will not get decent money for him when he finally admits what everyone else can clearly see…HE DOESN’T WANT TO BE HERE! and i can’t say i blame him, lfc have showed no ambition firstly, with the appointment of this fool and now, his retention despite the glaringly obvious fact that he’s not up to the job!
rubroy simply HAS TO GO NOW before he totally destroys our beloved club!

Maybe it is time for the Higher powers that be to realise and not in a Newcastle kind of way that this is too big a job for Roy!

  • Davie says:

Why has Torres not looked interested so far this season? I personally think theres been a lot of broken promises made so far i mean we and the powers at Liverpool knew we were crying out for a striker to back Nando up & who does Roy bring in? Answer Konchesky & Poulsen. There was know need for them as we couldve promoted fringe players & who`s to blame = Roy Hodgson. Roy met Torres when he got the managers job and how did he persuade him to stay, promises promises. An excellent player like Torres doesnt suddenly become so poor & im afraid he`ll be back to his best elsewhere. Time for changes again & its got to be Roy first, retire mate before your sacked.

I think the problem lies deep within the squad, it appears from the daily stories that a lot of senior players are sceptical of the managers methods. They do not have faith in his vision and can not see Liverpool challenging for the top honours whilst he is in charge. I want to give Hodgson a chance but it appears a lot of senior players have seen enough and want him out otherwise they will leave sooner rather than later.
So do we risk losing top players like Torres, Reina, Johnson & Agger just to see if Hodgsons methods work in the long term? That is the question our new owners need to answer. I know what my answer is, I’m sure it’s the same for the majority of fans too.

  • Red Sky says:

I’m never this rude and frustrated..but we have managed to clear 1 major obstacle Tom and Gerry and now we have a major second one..who is again demoralizing the team “ROY HODGSON F__ OFF AND LEAVE THIS CLUB TO SOMEONE WHO IS CAPABLE OF MANAGING IT”

  • Red Sky says:

These are the impressive facts of all the teams managed current Manager in charge of this great Club in England.

STOP being so small minded, we need new players not a new manager, for christ sake give the man a chance!!!

Every new manager needs to have at least one season before he should be judged, this abuse againts ROY is out of order…

Go an get a new manager and then what happens if he doesnt hit the ground running? we cry for another manager…

Its embarrasing that Liverpool fans are acting in this blind way…you should be ashamed of yourself…and so should you LIVE 4 LIVERPOOL

I bet your just some geek who has the power of a blog!

    • Red Sky says:

Max, I fully understand what you’re saying, I’ve been watching Liverpool since 1978, when you know a manager does not have the tactical know how or the motivational powers which are backed up by all the stats you know that the team is going to struggle. BTW how many games have you been at?

  • stan howard says:

being unhappy at a club should not mean not giving all. non paid amatures run and chase for 90 mins for nothing but the love of the game, i know, i did it myself for years. kuyt has lost a bit of pace since his injury so it’s important that torres puts defenders under a bit of presure, it will even get him goals. a better player than him (ian rush) did it all the time.
to me it is th managers job to make people work as they should, no matter how big a name.

  • Scooter says:

Its def a players attitude problem filtering down from the top of the squad thats contributing to the poor form, can you blame them tho? who wants to be managed by the x fulham club who brings in new players like poulsen and konchesky whilst lets good young squad players go out on LOAN for these 2 new older players who both havnt done anything for us yet, and he keeps on playing them. Konchesky has to be benched.
If they brought in a new manager who has had SUCCESS maybe Torres, Pepe and Johnson will want to stay and play for this club.

    Roys gotta go.

  • stan howard says:

we must ask ourselves what would we have won if rush only decided to turn up for home games ? the difference is shankly paisley and daglish would have told him straight have a go or your out. and that is what the overawed roy should do.
