Is he Fernando Torres’s ideal strike partner?

|

According to the Telegraph, the Reds could be willing to part with Ryan Babel and Daniel Agger for the player, who is said to have a minimum fee release clause in his contract of £34million. Man City are said to have offered Emmanuel Adebayor as part exchange for Dzeko but the former Arsenal striker is unwilling to move to the Bundesliga. Of course, it goes without saying that City will be able to outmanoeuvre Liverpool in the transfer negotiations if they use their financial muscle. Much will however depend on Dzeko himself.

The Bosnian will have to ask himself, what does he want from the rest of his career? Money will always be a motivation for players and the prospect that City could win the Premier League in the not too distant future could also attract the Wolfsburg striker’s gaze. What Liverpool would have to hope for is that Dzeko is not a mercenary but wants to be part of a club which has a long term vision and has a history as rich as the Reds.

Wolfsburg itself is not a poor club, as it is backed by Volkswagen, and Dzeko is no doubt on a very large contract, but with the club sitting 13th under Steve McClaren, Dzeko obviously has higher ambitions and has already stated a desire to move to AC Milan. Juventus have also been interested in him and it would be interesting to see what he imagines his next club to be. With Liverpool lying 11th in the table, it is unlikely he sees his future on Merseyside, that is if NESV even have the money, but we can only live in hope.

Edin Dzeko would be a great signing, good in the air and equally adept with his feet. His goalscoring record at Wolfsburg speaks for itself and no doubt he will be a success in the Premier League. Dzeko and Torres would form a lethal partnership but whether we can afford him and whether he wants to come or not is another question. Their asking price may be too high and I do not really want the club to part with Agger and Babel.

Let’s stop with the elitist B.S eh – there’s NOTHING to suggest that Liverpool has a stronger vision for the future than Man City do. We’re going to have to be clever with our transfers as the simple truth is that we are not a top draw for players at the moment.

There are plenty of players around the world that could do a great job for us if given the chance; it is up to our scouts and our manager to discover them first, instead of waiting for their price to skyrocket after everybody else spots them

Sell Torres for 50 million to Man City and buy Dzeko for 35 million (YOUNGER AND FITTER THAN TORRES) and buy Andy Carroll for 15 million (YOUNGER AND FITTER THAN TORRES). Sell Kuyt for 10 million and buy Nzogbia for same or less money. Sell Skyrtel for 5 million and Reina for 25 million and use the money to buy Gary Cahill for 18 million and Ben Foster for 10 million. Sell Aqualiani for 13 million and Konchesky for 2 million and Poulsen for 1 million and use the money plus the surplus 2 million from above to buy Ashley Young.

Agree with u except for carroll and raina. Torres is still far better than carroll. For rain he still the best. You can not blame 2 players for our poor displays. First thing first Roy should be out of lfc. Then watch the performances of our current players and then deside.

After Man Utd’s draw with Birmingham, Liverpool are only the equivalent of 13 points behind United. In 1989 Liverpool pulled back a 13 point deficit on Arsenal. Instead of concentrating on rubbish like the Europa League and FA Cup Liverpool should push on this season and win the Premier League.

He is in my FIFA 11 game 😛

I do not see City getting both Llorente and Dzeko i think it will be one or the other but i am unsure as to weather Liverpool could attract either.
There is lots of big clubs looking at the pair and i believe Gomez may be a better buy cheaper and more willing to come.

Spot on Yvette. Evereyone is looking at Young or Mata, we’ll buy Turan. Evereyone is looking at Llorente and Dzeko when we can buy Podolski..

We all remember our proud history, thats in the past & need to move on as we approach 2011. Lets start tonight by getting 3 points against Wolves. We are still a big enough club that will attract top players. Whose the bigger attraction between Liverpool or Man City? For me Liverpool all the time but unfortunately City will attract players because of the bottomless pockets of their owner. We are Liverpool FC & every player at us should remember its a privelidge to wear the shirt know matter who. RIP Avi Cohen YNWA,God Bless.
