According to Skysports.com yesterday, Aston Villa have joined the race with Liverpool to sign Basel’s Swiss winger Valentin Stocker. The 21 year old is also being chased by Fiorentina, Sampdoria and Udinese but Swiss sources believe that Liverpool are in pole position to sign the player. Stocker likes to have a free role on the left hand side of Basel’s midfield and likes to drift inside to interchange with the strikers. Although still young, he has good dribbling skills and loves to get into the box as much as possible to have an attempt on goal. So far this season, Stocker has scored six goals and has provided six assists for team-mates.
