2 Promotions that hopefully symbolise the future for the Reds

Kenny then talked to the players about there being big opportunities ahead for them if they worked hard. Such a pep talk from the manager can only encourage them and McParland remarked:

“Everything has been hugely positive and it is great that the Academy is so heavily involved in Kenny’s plans. After that meeting he decided to take Conor Coady and Suso up to Melwood with him to train with the first-team. He took me and the two boys down to Melwood in his car which was obviously a great moment for them. I watched them train with the likes of Steven Gerrard, Joe Cole and Fabio Aurelio. They both did very well and were a credit to the Academy.”

Hopefully there will be many more youngsters getting the chance to train with the first team in the coming months. To get the same ethos all across the club is crucial and Kenny is in no doubt that he should be the one instilling it from the top to the bottom of the club.

McParland also discussed how he has had discussions with Damien Comolli about using prozone and the Sport Science team at Melwood for the Academy, and the greater uniformity between the two complexes the better in my view. Kenny’s enthusiasm will surely rub off on the young players too and he was sat in the dugout (shown above) alongside Rodolfo Borrell for Liverpool Under 18’s 5-0 friendly thrashing of Shrewsbury. From such efforts, I think the future of Liverpool and its Academy is looking bright with everyone, Rodolfo Borrell, Pep Segura, Frank McParland and Damien Comolli, all on the same page.
