A Transfer Gamble or have the Reds shown their intent?

|

Certainly Carroll is probably a less well known quantity now than Rooney even was back in 2004, but it must be emphasised that Carroll has all the attributes to succeed at the top level of English football. An excellent striker of the ball from outside as well as inside the box, he is also a powerful header of the ball who can hold up and link up play. Both Kenny Dalglish and Damien Comolli know their stuff and are not stupid. They would have weighed up the pros and cons of such a sizeable bid, looking at the player’s potential and his abilities. They feel he is worth it and so I am inclined to believe them.

Whatever you say though, the price of £35million is still way too steep and the Newcastle striker will have a lot to do to prove he is worthy of such a valuation. I must say though I am quietly optimistic, although not widely excited, by the prospect of Suarez and Carroll partnering each other up front. The Reds will have to change their system to accommodate the pair, and although Suarez could perhaps play wide right or wide left in a 4-2-3-1 formation, he is much more effective through the middle and I doubt the Reds would want to waste £23million on a player playing out of his favoured position. At 22 and 24 respectively, however, Carroll and Suarez fit into FSG’s long term strategy of having a young vibrant team for many year’s to come. What do you think about Carroll’s potential switch to the Reds?

its really a gamble but i will not blame anyone xcept torres. The transfer request came too late n i think fsg has made a statement but we will c if its a right one.

If Torres’ real worth was £35-40 million and we got £10-15 million more for him because it’s in this window then it stands to reason that any player we buy would have the same inflated valuation too. Add to that the fact that from now on all clubs must show restraint in the market to comply with the new FIFA regulations then overall we haven’t done too badly. If Suarez and Carroll build a promising partnership then a net spend of approx £25 million will ensure Liverpool have a partnership for the next decade.

Its a classic partnership, big old fashoined centre forward to hold up the ball, skillful little guy to bang em in.
It might take a while for them to gel, but the future holds some great things for us now.

Im still pretty gutted about nando, more because of the constant comments about his love for liverpool, wanting kids to have scouse accents etc…the comment from him today about moving up a step left a bitter taste in the mouth.

Sod it, let them worry about him getting knacked every few weeks from now on, money talks, bulls**t walks.
