Kenny “I certainly do not have a problem with Damien”

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has stated he doesn’t have a problem working under the Director of Football Strategy Damien Comolli:

“It’s important that we have someone who is there and is actively organising people, looking at team reports and match preparations that include individual players that the club may have an interest in. I think it’s a fantastic help and I certainly do not have a problem with Damien. Hopefully it’s the same from his point of view.”

King Kenny also responded to questions to whether the owners might be seeking a younger long term manager:

“Harry Redknapp’s done fantastically well at Tottenham. Fergie’s been there for 30 years so he’s always been successful at United apart from the first few years. I suppose it depends on the individual, everybody’s different. It’s all very well having experience, but sometimes with that experience it doesn’t necessarily get you knowledge. We just want to move upwards and onwards. You saw the way the players went about their work (at Old Trafford), their determination to try and get something from it was of great credit to them. Whether the age makes a difference, I don’t know if it’s a help or a hindrance. When I first came in I was 34 and I had no real football knowledge then.”

He is also said that the club will be considering buying players in January if the right opportunity comes along:

“The most important people for us are the people that are here. We are going to concentrate on them and everyone will be given an opportunity. If something comes up that is an attractive opportunity for the club then we may well take it. It’s impossible to say one way or another.”
