Suarez On Bench. Bet on him to score first at 7/2!

So much has happened at Liverpool Football Club since the team’s last league match against Fulham last Wednesday. Who could have imagined then that the Reds would have sold Fernando Torres for £50m to Chelsea and brought in Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez as his replacements for the princely sum of £58million?

Tonight’s match against Stoke is therefore an interesting encounter for all manner of reasons (Liverpool team sheet below). What will we get from our new signing Luis Suarez if he comes on? Can he get his first goal in his first match for the club? Andy Carroll will also be paraded on the pitch before kick off but he is still a few weeks away from recovering from a thigh injury which he sustained by falling off drunkenly from a bar stool in a casino. The Carroll/Suarez is a mouth watering prospect for the future, but for the next month or so, Suarez will have the pressure solely on him to provide the goals for the Reds if he starts matches.

The Uruguayan may take some time to settle in to the English game but he has little time to rest on his laurels as there are two games in quick succession, against Stoke tonight and against Torres’s Chelsea at the weekend. King Kenny is putting a lot of faith in the 24 year old and with the fact he has been given the manager’s old shirt number 7, the pressure for the Uruguayan to perform will be big. The striker however performed expertly on the biggest stage at the World Cup last summer and hopefully he has the temperament and the ability to succeed in the Premier League. If he gets anywhere near his fantastic goal scoring ratio for Ajax, 81 goals in 110 league games, we will be ecstatic.

I’m guessing on the formation so don’t hold me to it! With Stoke going into the game lacking form, the game should be dictated by the Reds from the start of the match, and I will predict another narrow 1-0 victory for the Reds. Perhaps a debut goal for Suarez too!
