TEN Foreign Starlets who could set English football alight

|

We have been treated to some foreign stars over the years in the Premier League. Eric Cantona, Gianfranco Zola, Thierry Henry – to name but a few. But who can we be looking out for next to light the English game up with their continental flair?

Paul Pogba – The Manchester United youngster was labelled ‘a leader of men’ when he signed from Le Harve. He has traits similar to ‘a mix between Patrick Vieira and Abou Diaby’ and although he is yet to feature in United’s first team, at 17, big things are expected in the Frenchman.

Gael Kakuta – Chelsea have recognised his ability and ear-marked him for the future by tying the Frenchman down to a long-term contract. By sending the midfielder out on loan to Fulham, Kakuta can gain some much needed Premier League experience.

Haris Vuckic – The Slovenian is heralded in his own country and the next best thing. He has been at Newcastle since 2009 and has been a regular in the U18’s and reserve side since joining. Coaches at the Tyneside club are tipping the attacker to take the Premier League by storm. Sooner rather than later fans will be hoping after a certain number 9 has recently jumped ship!

David Hoilett – The Canadian has been featuring for Blackburn since 2009, but only recently has he been starting to make a claim for a regular start in the first-team. The 20-year-old scored a wonderful goal against West Brom earlier this month, which was his first in the Premier League. I have a feeling we will be seeing a lot more of Hoilett.

Gai Assulin – A product of the famous Barcelona academy, the Israel must be a talent! Manchester City snapped him up because work permit issues prevented him from making the step up from Barcelona’s B side to the first team.

Jesus Fernandez Saez “Suso”- The Spaniard arrived at Liverpool as a 16-year-old in the summer of 2010. He has made great strides and is a fantastic talent according to the reserve team coaching staff. He signed his first professional contract on his 17th birthday. He was involved in Jamie Carragher’s testimonial against Everton and has scored a wonder goal for the reserves against Newcastle.

Zele Ismail – Premature perhaps, but at 15, Ismail was playing for Wolves’ academy with people predicting he will be the first £100 million player. He has already starred in the Milk Cup – the tournament in which a young David Beckham and Joe Cole first made their name. A serious knee injury has kept him off the radar for a while but a hat-trick against Man United’s academy side would suggest he’s well on the mend.

Nathaniel Chalobah – By no means a household name, but the centre-back has been a regular fixture in Chelsea’s reserves ever since he was a school boy. Despite being born in Sierra Leone, Chalobah played for England’s U17 side at the age of 14.

Ryo Miyaichi – The young Japanese starlet trailed with Arsenal in the summer and Arsene Wenger snapped him up after witnessing some ‘raw ability which attracted many clubs from around the world.’ He is currently on loan at Feyenord gaining first team experience, but expect to see him in an Arsenal League Cup side very soon!

Andreas Weimann – An Austrian who has been banging the goals in for Aston Villa’s reserve side. Under Martin O’Neill he was expected to make the next step, let’s see if Gerard Houllier fancies him to light up the Premier League.
