Time for the Real Joe Cole to show what he’s made of

|

He has stated that he does no regret the move to Merseyside but there are some issues which have complicated his arrival at Anfield. It became pretty clear that Cole signing for Liverpool was very much pushed forward by former Managing Director Christian Purslow. Roy Hodgson has stated as much, and I think it became pretty apparent early on that Roy was not the man to get the best out of the player. He initially employed Cole in his favoured central midfield role but quickly lost patience and sidelined him out wide before relegating him to the bench entirely.

Considering the injuries and form of the player, you could hardly blame Hodgson but I think it is pretty clear that if you are going to get the best out of Joe Cole, he needs an arm around his shoulder. If a manager shows faith in him, the player’s confidence grows and we will see the natural talent he possesses. In this regard, Kenny Dalglish is the ideal man for the task. He has already started his man management offensive with his praise of Cole in his recent press conference, and with former Chelsea man Steve Clarke alongside him, the 29 year old has all the ingredients he needs for success.

If he plays tonight, and even in a central role as predicted, Joe will have another opportunity to show he has what it takes to succeed. It may take a few weeks or a month or two but I still believe that there is something in Joe Cole we can exploit. The only barrier to this will of course be injuries. He has been plagued by them for a couple of years or more now, and perhaps time is taking its toll on his body, but I hope for his sake he can now have a long run without setbacks. If he can, the Reds may have what will seem like a new signing on their hands.

  • Sir Cecil says:

How naive. Of course Dalglish has good things to say about him – they’ll want to pass him on to another club soon, so should they say be saying publicly that he’s rubbish?
As for Cole saying he wants it to work, what do ypu expect him to say? That he couldn’t care if he improves or not?
You even have the nerve to blame Hodgson for the wastrel Cole’s uselessness, but praise Dalglish when he has got not an ounce more out of the player.
The article is full of meaningless twaddle. And if I was told I had the “skill to open a can of beans” I’d take it as an insult, not a compliment.
Cole’s legs have gone. Simple as that. Chelsea didn’t give him a contract because he’s finished. In every ten games he plays, he might have one semi-good game in him. He’s been like that for three years, not just at Anfield. Which makes signing him all the more stupid.

  • Kenny says:

Get rid of Cole,Kuyt,Maxi,Poulsen,Ngog,Jovanovic,Aquilani,Jones,Insua and Aurelio. They are a waste of space, time and wages. They are taking up slots that the youth players like Sterling should have. Fans whining about a new stadium or renovating Anfield need to realise that NESV will not borrow the 400-500 million needed to do this while the wage bill is so inflated paying the likes of the players mentioned above.

  • Hi ,
I owned restaurants in Ohio for 4 years and I have to sold it because of the economy. I applied for sales position in BMW and Lexus dealers. I am going to interview with them next week. What do you think about salary in high end dealership?
I don’t know how much they are gonna pay during the training period.
