Should we heed Petrovic’s call over our Serbian misfit?

Considering his lack of form and confidence, it maybe sensible just to only use him as a striker where he is most comfortable. Although he was only playing against Northern Ireland on Saturday, his impact from the bench was undoubted, and along with fellow sub Milos Ninkovic, he gave the Serbians a much needed cutting edge, to turn the score line around.

Serbia were simply terrible in the first half and Northern Ireland deserved to be in the lead, but the attacking intentions of both Ninkovic and Jovanovic, along with starters Tosic and Krasic in the second half, changed the outcome of the match.

I am certainly not advocating for Jovanovic to start matches for the Reds, but I would like King Kenny to at least try him as a striker before his likely departure in the summer. Otherwise there will be a certain sense that we never really gave the player a chance to shine in the Red of Liverpool. The Serbian was never going to be a world star after we signed him on a free from Standard Liege, but I felt he could at least be a useful squad player. He hasn’t even been that so far and perhaps one selection up front for the 29 year old, could give us a greater certainty as to whether he should be sold in the summer.
