This point has been made multiple times but if Torres had been busting his guts for us this season while we struggled, his exit would have been slightly easier to take. The fact that he looked disinterested for the majority of his games for us this season though has made his transfer to Chelsea a bit cheeky in my eyes. To be one of the many players underperforming for us this year but still have the audacity to demand a transfer due to the club underachieving has led to many fans feeling disgusted by his overall attitude.
One thing that is for sure is that Steven Gerrard was right when he said that we are a much stronger unit now with the deadly duo of Carroll and Suarez up front rather than just the one top class striker. With the addition of a couple of top class wingers and a left back I really do believe we can surprise a few people next season, including our former number nine. Firstly, we potentially have one of the best strike partnerships in the league. Along with that we have a central midfield that contains a contender for our player of the season, Raul Meireles, Brazil’s current first choice defensive midfielder, Lucas, and one of the best midfielders in the world in the shape of Steven Gerrard.
For the time being at least we also have probably the best goalkeeper in the league, while Jamie Carragher and Daniel Agger are widely respected as top class central defenders. It’s pretty much just our wings that need sorting but with a big summer of spending ahead of us I genuinely see us storming into the next campaign with a powerful squad and making a certain ex red regret ever opening his mouth about Liverpool FC.

Agreed, although I do understand some of what Torres is saying. As much as we hated H&G, imagine what it must have been like working for those clowns? To see the best players sold and not replaced and then being forced to work under Roy Hodgson who seemed to think he was God’s gift to football management, riding in on his Premiership Manager of the Year Award (laughable)!
I think Torres went to a club he genuine loved and it (the business not the supporters) let him down as a professional, in the same way H&G let us down as fans.
The money that we got from him has helped us out and if he was still with us, playing like he currently is at Chelsea, we’d be looking to see him in the summer anyway.
I just hope that Reina hasn’t been left as dissillusioned. Saurez replacement of Torres’ Kop Idol status has proved that we have moved on from the loss of Fernando, I don’t think it would be as easy to replace Reina though!
At the end of the day, Torres didn’t force through a transfer that saw Liverpool ripped off, and Liverpool were adequately compensated for his departure (unlike with Mascherano or Owen) – he got to go to a club where he felt more likely to meet his goals and Liverpool got to move forwards with players that were more committed to helping LFC achieve our goals.
What is the big deal over this – can’t we just leave the man in peace (aside from when he plays Liverpool) and leave Chelsea to worry over whether he is physically past it or just mentally messed up still, while we hopefully continue to significantly improve our squad without him??
FT is like a guys who’s dumped his girlfriend thinking’s she’ll fall to pieces without him, only to she her a few weeks later looking smokin’ hot and having the time of her life!

I’m pretty sure he loves Atletico, the team who made him and sure he loves Liverpool. I love my brother, but criticise him all the time. I love my club, but criticise them too.

I think all the Torres criticism is well over the top. He really hasn’t said much against Liverpool at all. Fair enough he said he wanted to leave close to the deadline but then Chelsea only made an offer late in the day. All other fans just view the Liverpool fans’ whinging about him as sour grapes that they have lost a great player and that it is a sign of the times that a player of his ability no longer wants to play for a europa league playing team. Articles like this are just a sign that the Liverpool fans really aren’t over his departure yet. If Chelsea had of sold Mikel for £50M do you really think they would be whinging about his departure as long as this. It is a sign that the liverpool fans are clearly hurt and have been hit with a dose of reality that their club is no longer a ‘big club’ and will not win anything for a while to come

firstly, the arrival of suarez and carroll has replaced torres and more, suarez has helped us win more games than torres had all season, his form at chels**t further proves this point..
secondly, how can you compare torres to mikel??? torres was our only striker at the time and one of our star players..mikel is utter s**t and hardly has any influence in a match, he shud be compared to lucas and i wudnt trade lucas for mikel..50 million for mikel?? what are you, his agent???
