The Biggest Indication Yet That Kenny Will Be Staying?

|

Surely then, the assumption has to be that Kenny Dalglish will be given a new deal to extend his contract beyond the end of the season, in line with the potential deal for Clarke. There is a small possibility that Clarke could stay at the club without Dalglish, but surely any new coach would want their own backroom staff anyway, and it can’t be practical to give a coach a lucrative new deal, without knowing for sure he has the approval of the manager he will be working under next season?

From this suggestion then, everything looks set for Kenny Dalglish to be given the Liverpool manager’s job on a permanent basis. As caretaker manager he has accumulated more points than any other manager in the period barring Alex Ferguson at Manchester United, and his understanding of the club and its supporters surely put him in prime position. Contract talks with Dalglish have been suggested by FSG partner Sam Kennedy already in an interview a couple of weeks ago:

“The conversations are happening now with the appropriate people, but he has provided a great lift. He’s a wonderful man, he is passionate about the club.”

If Dalglish appointment is confirmed not so long after the season hass ended, it makes the pursuit of new players a lot easier. There will be no uncertainty surrounding the club and the stability would encourage players to sign, as well convincing existing players, such as Pepe Reina, to stay on Merseyside. Hopefully the talks with Clarke will be quickly followed by even more good news about the manager in the not too distant future.
