FIVE Players That Have to Go This Summer

|

3) Paul Konchesky

Another Roy Hodgson signing who must be sold. Come to think of it, Roy Hodgson really messed Liverpool up by being the manager and playing with his tactics and signing his average players. Liverpool needed a left-back when Roy Hodgson took over so Roy decides to go back to his old club Fulham and get their left-back, Paul Konchesky.

At first I thought that Konchesky would be a decent signing for Liverpool as he was a pretty solid left-back for Fulham and he even got a call up to the England squad. But ever since he joined Liverpool this season, he has put in one bad performance after the other. That subsequently lead Kenny Dalglish to send Konchesky out on loan to Nottingham Forest for the rest of the season.

To show how bad Konchesky has been, Dalglish opted to send Konchesky out on loan who is an out and out left-back and rather have a right-back in the form of Glen Johnson to play at left-back!

For the £3 million we spent on Konchesky, I feel we should be able to get that same amount back when we sell him this summer. Liverpool will certainly go out and buy a good left-back this summer which will mean Konchesky is surplus to requirements. Young Jack Robinson has come in at left-back now with the injuries Liverpool have had and he has been decent and is certainly one for the future. Even now I will pick Robinson ahead of Konchesky.

4) Sotorios Kyrgiakos

The big Greek defender is not that bad a player at all but I feel for the benefit of the younger defenders at Liverpool, Soto has to be sold so the likes of Danny Wilson and Ayala get a chance to play a center backs for Liverpool as they are the future.

Soto is great when it comes to an aerial battle be it when he is defending or attacking but I feel his positioning at times needs a lot to be desired. I get scared whenever I see a striker running towards Soto as he will most likely foul him or be beaten.

I am sure there will be many clubs who would be after Soto’s signature if we are to sell him. Especially the newly promoted teams in the Premiership, they would benefit from having a hard physical player like Soto in their team.

So for me, Soto to leave to give the younger more promising central defenders a chance in the team.

5) David Ngog

I know there will be some fans who believe that David Ngog should not be sold this summer and that he should stay and provide cover for Suarez and Carroll next season. I disagree.

Ngog has been given a lot of opportunities during his time at Liverpool. He filled in on many occasions when Torres was injured. Although Ngog did not do terribly badly when given the chances to play, he was not exactly prolific in front of goal either. Yes, Ngog is young and has a lot to learn but we can not continue to rely on a player of Ngog’s ability to be our back up striker when our big guns are injured or out of form. For a striker who has played 90 times for Liverpool and to have scored only 18 goals, that is pretty poor!

We saw it when Torres was injured and Ngog was leading the line, he simply can not deliver regularly. What Liverpool need is to go out and buy another top striker who will provide cover or competition for Suarez and Carroll. Although Ngog is only 22 years old, he has a lot to learn but he should do it away from Liverpool or else we will continue to be disappointed if we put our faith in him.

  • Dennis says:

The club has 12 players on the books who need to be shown the door and replaced by 7-10 quality, class, hungry players.

Outs: B Jones GK, Degan RB, Krygiakos CB, Insua LB,
Koncheskey LB, Aurelio LB(Injury Prone/Inconsistant/31 now but 32 in sep)
    Poulsen DM/CM, J Cole RW/LW/AM, Jovanovic RW/LW/FD,
EL Zhar RW/LW And D Ngog FD.

And lastly Aquilani,Juventus are trying to get him on the cheap after a deal was put in place a year ago, the club brought Aquilani from Roma for £18-£20M including add ons and he was injured. Yet the club got him fit and ready,Hodgson loaned him out with Option to buy for £16M so already £4M Loss and Juventus agreed. Now time is up and loan period is over Juventus and Aquilani are acting up, the club should sell him to A.C Milan or to the highest bidder. If Aquilani doesn’t want to come back to club or England, thats fair but club will decide that and not him and he is certainly not being sold on a cheap.

    • Carlos says:

that’s 100% my list too. Damn mind-reader… or is it that obvious ; )
Reckon that lot should bring in 30 mill,so with any extra fromFSG we’ll havelots to spend…

      • David says:

Not Aurellio, he is one of the best left backs in the league. It is such a shame about the injuries definitely worth keeping

        • Dennis says:

Aurelio is a Quality class player but he is injured 80% of every season and has been since he joined the club, he is now 31 and will be 32 in september.

King Kenny can not rely on a player who will be on treatment table, thats y the club need to sell

Outs: B Jones GK, Degan RB, Krygiakos CB, Insua LB,
Koncheskey LB, Aurelio LB(Injury Prone/Inconsistant/31 now but 32 in sep)
          Poulsen DM/CM, J Cole RW/LW/AM, Jovanovic RW/LW/FD,
EL Zhar RW/LW And D Ngog FD and Aquilani CM/AM.

And the club needs to clear the 12 players out and bring in 10 players: 7 Players to make club/team more solid, compact, disciplined, tough and harder to break down away from Home and at Anfield:

          1: A GK: W Hennessey Of Wolves
2/3: Two CB’S: G Cahill Of Bolton and S Kjaer Of Wolfsburg,Rolando Of Porto Or Sakho Of PSG.
4/5: Two LB’S: A Cissokho Of Lyon and J Enrique Of Newcastle.
6: DM: Momo Sissoko Of Juventus, M’Villa Of Rennes, Moussa Sissoko Of Toulouse Or B Matuidi Of St Etienne, One of these needs to be brought to club in the summer.
7:CM: S Defour Of S Liege, C Adams Of Blackpool Or E Banega Of Valencia, One of these should be brought to club.

Then 3 players who will bring speed, pace, creativity, class, quality and excitement to the attack:

8: AM: Willian Of Shakhtar Donesk,Valbuena Of Marseille, C Eriksen Of Ajax Or Diego Of Wolfsburg, One of these players needs to be brought to the club.
9: J Navas Of Seville, A Sanchez Of Udinese, A Young Of A Villa, A Turan Of Galatassary, P Hernandez Or J Mata Of Valencia Or E Hazard Of Lille,One of these should be brought to club this summer as Right winger.
10:LW: R Drenthe Of Real Madrid, C Nzogbia Of Wigan Or D Capel Of Seville, One of these players should be brought to club as Left footed Left winger.

    • shaunymo says:

I spent money on an Agger kit, so I believe I will say this! Agger needs to go! He’s weak/frail and will probably spend 75% of his career injured. Play Carra/Skrtel/Wilson/Kelly/Soto in CB slot with G.Johnson taking a more advanced role as a RW and Kelly/Flanagan in the RB role. LB should have Wilson/Aurelio/Robinson with a LB coming in! Coady and Wisdom are coming in the ranks and there’s your new Carra and Sol Campbell in the making! For all those who say Navas, you obviously don’t know football. This kid scores under 5 goals a year with some Assists. How will he handle the EPL?? Stop everyone with this Hazard thing! He doesn’t want to come here and just like Sahin, they’ll want to go to RM or Barca and rot on the bench! Keep Gulaci as back up Keeper and why not keep Soto for experience and is a good back up to have around. In’s should be Turan/N’Zogbia/A.Johnson, Park Chu Young (Benayoun type player), Daniel Sturridge (4th Striker that will get plenty of games in rotation), and splash £9m plus Eccelston/Amoo for Leighton baines. I would even throw Scott Dann into the mix if a CB is needed with Danny Wilson going out on loan to get first team action with a prem club (Swansea, QPR,)..Bye Bye Ngog, Poulsen, Konchesky, Cole (rather use Pacheco in his role and would do more than Cole at a huge cost reduction), Degen, ElZhar, Brad Jones, Aquilani, Agger, may be even Skrtel (to get Dann or even Shawcross…G.Cahill=over-priced), and Jova (I was hyped over his signing, however we didn’t utilize him effectively, where he could have scored about 7-10 goals this season). What you lads think?

  • Eric says:

Liverpool need to get rid of all the deadwood as soon as the transfer window reopens in the summer in order to boost funds for transfers.

However, I disagree with you in that Jovanovic has to go as I still think he just has not been given a fair chance in the team. He has only started a few league games which isn’t enough to judge him. He has done well in the cup games where he has scored goals. The guy has pace and strength and is a good finisher and given a bit of confidence and a run out he will show what he is capable of doing. I suggest Kenny gives him a run out on the left of a three man attack or on the left wing and if it doesn’t work out then I would understand if he gets sold but selling him after just a few starts is unfair to the guy. Surely a Serbian international who has a decent goalscoring record for Serbia and with Standard Liege cannot be that bad.

Other than that, I agree with you in saying that Konchesky, Poulsen, Soto and Ngog have to go. But I would also like to add the following players to the list: Jones, Degen, Darby, Irwin, Saric, Eccleston and Aquilani for the price to the list.

    • Dennis says:

Eric if Jovanovic has not be used by King Kenny and rarely plays now, where would you think he will get chance after the summer?

Jovanovic is not good enough, thats why he is not picked to play its that simple.

King kenny has given everyone a chance ,obviously the standards he has of Liverpool players Jovanovic,Ngog,Poulsen,J Cole and M Rodriguez to a certain extent were not cutting it or not up to the task,so he never uses them unless he has to.

we have 11 dead wood players on books and 1 class player(Aquilani) who is on loan and him and his agent keep trying to say that he doesn’t want to come back to club Or England, so he should be soldto the highest bidder and club should cut their losses.

And not sell to juventus for any cheaper than original asking price, they got a injury free fit player on loan with permanent deal of £16M at end of loan spell. Liverpool got injury proned player from Roma for £18-£20M with hefty wage packet and club had to work and treat him for 5-7mths to get him sharp and fully fit. And now he’s played full season and got back into national team and has been 1 of their most consistant star players this season, they claim the £16M is too much to pay.

He is a regular international again,£16M is too cheap

      • Lfc4Life says:

Dennis for some strange reason I get the feeling you was one of the ones who wanted Maxi out not too long ago??
Was he your list? Be honest.. Lool

Eric – Spot on mate.. Jova has not been given a fair crack and hopefully he will do at some point.. Having seen him play for serbia recently he was very impressive and turned a game they looked like losing into a win…

The other player I’d like too keep is Ngog…
He’s young and has scored goals for us Europe and in the past has scored against Man u and Arsenal this season.
Yes he doesn’t look that great, but who did under Roy?
I rate him because in all the games Iv seen play in as a lone striker he hardly lost the ball and that’s the sign of a good player….he should stay for sure!

Btw Maxi was never on my deadwood list… As I knew What he was capable of….

As for Aurilio inconsistent? Maybe in attendance but never in contribution or ability.

        • Dennis says:

Yeah i was one of the people who wanted maxi gone, how many games in a season is there? How much money is maxi on a week? 70-85,000 a week has he been consistant all season or in every game he has played this year? NO

Aurelio is too injury prone and is on treatment table 80% of every season, not consistant. Whenever he plays he is great and class but 20% of greatness out of 100% is not good enough!!!!!!!!

Jovanovic and Ngog are simply not good enough for Liverpool, Liverpool need players in the calibre/class of the spine and best players of club: Reina, Johnson, Carragher,Skrtel, Agger, Meireles, Gerrard, Kuyt, Carroll and Suarez.

For the club to move forward!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Dennis says:

And then the 7-10 players needed are:

  • luke says:

    What about joe cole?

  • Red Indian says:

good list..just add joe cole and aquilani to that list..

  • Jay Wright says:

    I can’t remember Jovanovich even playing under Dalglish at all, never mind failing to shine. Nevertheless he should move on, along with;
    – Joe Cole (waste of space player with no position to play even if he could find some sort of form)
    – Konchesky (no need for justification)
    – Degen (no need for justification)
    – Aurelio (injury proneness makes him a libaility that just can’t be trusted)
    – Kyrgiakos (played his role, but his time is clearly up),
    – Skrtel (needs to make way to clear the way for Kelly and/or another new CB to step in)
    – Poulsen (no need for justification)
    – Ngog (either loan him out to get his price up or just sell and let Kuyt remain 3rd choice striker behind Carroll & Suarez)
    – Maxi (yep, I’m refusing to buy into him suddenly reverting to a player from 5-6 years ago after consistently offering us nothing for 2 years)

That’s a lot of deadwood, but seeing as none of them (barring Skrtel) should really be considered first team players right now anyway the impact of the overhaul on continuity at the club would be minimal

    • Jay Wright says:

If the outgoings were just capped at five for some reason though, I’d just ship out Cole, Konchesky, Skrtel, Poulsen and Maxi as they’re closest to the first team and would generate the most income/cash savings to be spent on quality replacements…

  • Dav says:

LFC should keep Skrtel, Maxi did nothing special throughout his Liverpool career now he’s suddenly on fire (tought decision to get rid of him now – let’s wait Jan 2012!). Otherwise I agree with Jay’s list.
Players In: Coentrao (£30m), Charlie Adam (£10m), Leighton Baines (£10m), Lennon (£15m + Joe Cole)& Gary Cahill (£15m).
Baines & Coentrao will be fantastic on the left!

  • Dennis says:

At end of day the spine of Club is : Reina, G Johnson,Carragher,Skrtel, Meireles, Gerrard, Carroll,Kuyt and Suarez.

Lucas has been very consistant this season and is always improving so he will be squad player if club get One of these players in the summer:Momo Sissoko Of Juventus, M’Villa Of Rennes, Moussa Sissoko Of Toulouse Ot B Matuidi Of ST Etienne.

Maxi Rodriguez has played well in last three game but has been quite poor during season,he is hit or miss player not consistant!!!

The club need players of the spines calibre and class brought to the club, then the club will get back to winning ways!

  • Hammed says:

i think we should just give some of this player more time to prove there self like Ngog, sketel and maxi i believe they can do well if giving the chance
