Lawro names his “star man” of the season

|

Former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson believes Lucas Leiva deserves his player of the season accolade. Writing in his column for the Liverpool Daily Post, he said:

“In terms of standout performers this season, I would go along with the fans as picking out Lucas Leiva as the star man, along with the ever-reliable, ever-willing Dirk Kuyt. The Brazilian has been unfortunate in that he has followed Xabi Alonso and Javier Mascherano – two genuinely world class players – but he is a good player in his own right. You don’t play for Brazil if you aren’t, and he has had an excellent season.”

Lawro also reflected on the events of the season at LFC:

“In many ways it was the strangest season Anfield has seen in a long, long time. For starters we have seen Liverpool go through two managers in the space of one campaign, which is something the club very rarely has done in its history. Add in the furore surrounding the change in ownership at the club, which at one point seemed to threaten the club’s very existence, and the frenzy of the January transfer window, and it has certainly not been a quiet season on the red half of Merseyside.”

This week it is former LFC WAG Gisela Molinero!
